Callaway Mavrick.........The new Paradym irons are booty.

I'd stay away from Taylor Made and Titleist.......if you are looking for more of a "game improvement" club. Their "players" clubs are great, just not the "game improvement" stuff.
You can get some good deals on '21 or'22 models. If they are still in stock.

No matter what.........Get custom fit for shafts.
thanks for the information and yes I will get fitted for these also. Just so many out there and wanted some feed back from people that know more than me and also not wanted to get taken or enamored by commercials etc. thanks again

I talked to P5 coach over weekend. Staffs are going to be less focused on high school recruits. Why focus on recruiting players that you develop and then they can leave for any reason. The focus is swinging towards getting players out on portal who will have burned their transfer (as mentioned in a previous post).

Coach said this will especially affect OL and DL recruiting. He believes most P5 will only recruit 2-3 HS linemen on each side of the ball and only take players they think can play immediately or players that have a high loyalty to school before recruitment.
He talked to one OL coach at an ACC school and they are considering only taking one HS olineman this year. They have lots of NIL money to draw proven transfers.

Will be interesting how that plays out at the LOS. Right now scanning the portal there’s a big disparity between the amount of Line talent that enters the portal vs skill positions. If enough schools do it it’ll push more line talent down to lower tier programs but i can definitely see it backfiring on a few schools that might overestimate their ability to get talent from the portal

peay question. I am 60 and play with 25 yr old cleveland set. Hit the ball pretty good for my age but looking maybe to upgrade a little and play more often. Irons only right now good on others new TM driver and Calloway 3 metal. Cost matters a little but can be had. thanks
Not Peay but at age 60 I bought a set of Adams Idea hybrid irons with Grafalloy lite flex (more flex than regular) shafts. They were perfect for me as my swing speed had dropped over the years. Love them & still play with them at age 76.

My driver is a 10 degree Lynx with a Harrison Pro 2.5 shaft.

Will you explain a little about the Taylormade statement? I just bought a new set of clubs from 3 wood through my wedges. Went to a custom fitter which was really cool. He fitted me to the shaft that fit my swing first then we started hitting different irons. The TM P790s were the ones I hit the best, most consistently with similar distances and less dispersion. I hit paradym, Mizuno, and Titleist. The numbers showed that the 790s were the club for me. Same goes with the stealth 2 woods and the jaws wedges. I spent a chunk for all of this…did I make a mistake with the irons???

I had a set of TM RocketBladez, and to be honest, I liked them better than my Ping G430s. I paid far more for the Ping set though, so clearly they are better. ;)

The TM Rocket series were really good. The driver especially!

The P series TM.....790, 770, even 750's (if you can find them) are great. I was talking about the Stealth irons. They are super "game improvement" clubs. Not the best in my opinion.
TM "players" clubs are about as good as it gets.

Now.......JMO, but if forged "players" irons (scratch to 10 hdcp) are what you are looking for, then Mizuno and Srixon are the best on the market. Forged in Japan and it IS a different feel.

Players that have been transferring out of UT this past year were nudged out for a variety of reasons-- not a great fit, academics, work ethic, violation of team rules. Some didn't fit the system, didn't fully buy in to the culture, wouldn't do what they needed to do to compete or just couldn't get a spot. It's been a pretty amicable parting of the ways. I'm surprised a few more didn't exit, but them staying and competing says a lot about our coaches and the state of our programs. It's nice to see the stability paying off.
These are all plausible explanations. Conjecture, tea leaves or some inside knowledge?

I'm pretty happy with my Mizuno MP-18 MMC irons. I have Mitsubishi MMT 105 TX shafts in them and get the perfect launch and spin with great strike consistency and no harsh vibrations on the mishits. Swingweight went up a bit with them, but not bad. I used to think I needed irons with tons of forgiveness, but that forgiveness usually came with a bit of inconsistency when it came to distance because the spin wasn't always consistent for me. I've stopped short of playing a full blade because I just can't play and practice enough for them, but I've seen much more consistent distances by moving closer to a forged blade that is well fitted. Very consistent spin and launch. As for woods...I really love what Titleist has been doing since introducing the TS series and currently play a TSr3 9* driver, TSi3 5 wood, and TS2 21* hybrid. Now I need life to give me a break so I can play more.

Do you put your seatbelt on before or after you start your car?

I get in, start the car, and put it in gear. Then I get out, run back inside to grab my coffee and work stuff, and then chase the car down the street. Once I catch it and get back in, then I put my seat belt on.
