I hope not. They will if Milton and our defense are terrible, both of which are possible. I'm cautiously optimistic Joe is not terrible after the Clemson game, but I believe it would be unwise to not consider the possibility that he absolutely stinks it up again. If we are that version of the team Saban will put 70 on us.
If he was to stink…. By the time that we play Bama…. It will be the Nico show…. I think Joe will light it up though.

Real Football?

What is it?

There may be some “old school” thinkers who thing real football is running the ball on offense and stopping the run on defense. It’s old school and for someone that’s old school I think it’s fair for them to see that as “Real Football”. They’re allowed to have their own vision. jmo.

Last year there were only 3 SEC teams that managed to score at least one rushing TD in every game on their schedule, Tennessee, Georgia, and LSU.

Mark Stoops, widely acclaimed as a self-acknowledged devotee of “Real Football”, was unable to score a rushing TD in 7, that’s Seven with a Capital 7, SEVEN, of his games on the year. smh. lol. There just seems to be something really wrong about that if someone is committed to "Real Football". If you're going to talk the talk you'd need to walk the walk. jmo.

I mean, it’s worse than that for Stoops. Mississippi State under Coach Leach (may he rest in peace) never ran the football at all and The Pirate still had 12 rushing TDs on the year. We had 40. Stoops had 9. 9? Yeah, 9, little “n”-ine. smh. lol. You’ve got to me kidding me. Nope. 9. lmao.

Stopping the run is the other half of the equation and Georgia was best in the conference at that, followed by Tennessee. Wait. Tennessee had the second best run defense in the SEC last year? Wow.

Say what you like but Tennessee appears to be really good at this “Real Football” thing. jmo.

Scout notes:

“Great accuracy and technique, but slow. Will have difficulty creating own shot. Talks incessently of destroying the human race; could impact locker room culture.”

"Isn't very fluid, seems to be very stiff and inflexible. Can't take a good charge, violent when rebounding."

So Florida's schedule

at Utah
McNeese State
Tennessee
Charlotte
at Kentucky
Vandy
at South Carolina
BYE
Georgia
Arkansas
at LSU
at Missouri
FSU

Bold are the likely wins...I think at Utah to open is a loss. Don't think they can beat Kentucky or South Carolina on the road and if they're already sitting at 4 losses going into Georgia I expect they'll be well into laydown mode. Could sneak a late season win in over Missouri or FSU though. Arkansas I think should beat them with them returning KJ

Florida with Napier or it’s gonna cost em.

This from an article in The Athletic about the state of Florida football wherein Andy Staples reports Napier’s forewarning that it’s going to take time

“Agent Jimmy Sexton, who represents Mullen and Napier, ensured Napier’s contract can’t be weaponized against him the way Mullen’s was. Napier’s deal has a buyout that would pay 85 percent of its remaining value. That would be $31.9 million after this season. Florida doesn’t typically spend that way. So Napier should have time to be as patient and calculated as he wants.”

Chat feeling a bit feisty today? Delightful!

🤣

Whip and nae nae was the hot song when I was helping coach little league football. If that or Rocky Top got played, you might as well call timeout, cause we fittin to break it down.

*Everything about little league was great, except for the parents, not all of them, but just enough to mess up the vibe.

**I still recommend coaching to any parents thinking about it. The 7 and 8 yrs old teams were the best ages to coach, IMO. Those are some great memories with both my kids.

Hahahahaha! This is wonderful!

Yeah I don't think in my 4 years of HS I saw a single pitcher in the 90s. But was at a small school too, @scienceteaching_vol might remember better since I think one of the better baseball teams we had was his senior year.

My son plays at a 3A school in SC and most of the good baseball programs in 3A has atleast 1 guy throwing in the 90s. Still sometimes face guys throwing in the 60s-70s at the varsity level though too. Sometimes those are the guys that are harder to hit. Hard for guys used to facing 80s and 90s to sit and wait on that! The good 5A baseball programs probably have 2-3 guys throwing in the 90s. I believe throwing velocity is just up, as a whole, these days.

When my son played mighty mites at Alcoa…. When they were going through drills…. All the kids in line were doing fortnite dances. LOL

There is a lot of evidence that FDR and the U.S. military leaders antagonized Japan and goaded them into attacking prior tk Pearl Harbor. Not saying that we wanted Pearl Harbor to happen but that we were hoping for some sort of Japanese action that would result in U.S. citizens supporting entering the war.

Definitely would not be the first or last time that politicians and military brass have looked for ways to drum up support for a military campaign.
The Lusitania *cough cough* among others...also pre-Korea and Vietnam. The MI Complex loves some good wartime money. The politicans like happy financial private supporters. And the damned are mostly the children of the middle and lower class.

I didn't play baseball. I focused on football but was going to play catcher my senior year and ended up getting a job at the Hardees and didn't have time. I went to some of the games but I have no recollection of teams we faced. Ha.
