Real Football?
What is it?
There may be some “old school” thinkers who thing real football is running the ball on offense and stopping the run on defense. It’s old school and for someone that’s old school I think it’s fair for them to see that as “Real Football”. They’re allowed to have their own vision. jmo.
Last year there were only 3 SEC teams that managed to score at least one rushing TD in every game on their schedule, Tennessee, Georgia, and LSU.
Mark Stoops, widely acclaimed as a self-acknowledged devotee of “Real Football”, was unable to score a rushing TD in 7, that’s Seven with a Capital 7, SEVEN, of his games on the year. smh. lol. There just seems to be something really wrong about that if someone is committed to "Real Football". If you're going to talk the talk you'd need to walk the walk. jmo.
I mean, it’s worse than that for Stoops. Mississippi State under Coach Leach (may he rest in peace) never ran the football at all and The Pirate still had 12 rushing TDs on the year. We had 40. Stoops had 9. 9? Yeah, 9, little “n”-ine. smh. lol. You’ve got to me kidding me. Nope.
9. lmao.
Stopping the run is the other half of the equation and Georgia was best in the conference at that, followed by Tennessee. Wait. Tennessee had the second best run defense in the SEC last year? Wow.
Say what you like but Tennessee appears to be really good at this “Real Football” thing. jmo.
