The Battery makes money absolutely hand over fist for the Braves. This is a brilliant move by Danny White and the UT Admin. Shockingly, this is what happens when you put competent, forward thinking people in charge.

The greatest con in all of history is convincing women that revealing their bodies means they're confident and empowered. For millennia men everywhere had to work for that, but recently someone tricked women into believing that they're proving their independence and courage by giving it away for free.

"Take THAT society, I'll show you my body and you can't stop me!"

I realize SI isn't an example of that, it's more social media. But it made me think of it.

For free is the one thing I have to factually disagree on. And nudeness. IG I'm pretty sure doesn't allow it. And yet these folks make buku bucks. That Livvy whatever girl has made millions on NiL.

My sis started out in gaming communities, but turned into an "influencer" of sorts, she posts on IG, typical stuff, maybe slightly racey at time but nothing crazy. Makes 10k to make a 3 minute internet video she shot on her own, a standard burger ad for a popular fast food joint. And she's on the lower end of the scale.

We could certainly debate the commodification of the human body (this surely goes for men too, right? And all those muscle magazines?). But I do have to disagree it's "for free". They are playing a game and hustling. They aren't as dumb as people think.

Honestly the side I hate of it most of all is when it delves into fakeness, photoshopping, and creating impossible images of folks. Why I don't hate "average models" and plus size men and women doing such. The sorts of mental issues young people can grow up thinking they have to achieve a fake level of perfection is the most damaging and it affects both sexes.

My girls are 7&9. Its something to keep in mind. But right now we're learning to pick up our toys after ourselves.

I remember those wonderful days! Best days of my life. Having the grandkids provide the greatest moments. Ages 4,5,7, and 11. That 11 year old is dealing with a lot my kids never had to, and it’s certainly way more than I did. She’s the only one that is good at picking up her toys. All she does is draw! The other 3 rearrange the Barbie rooms, take the tires off the tractors and disassemble everything on the farm table, pour all the LEGOs in the floor and take all clothes off all dolls as soon as they walk in the door. MeMe doesn’t care.

Negative. Never made me sick. Mostly quite clean feeling. Grapeseed leaves...basic meats...pita...toulah...falafel...mmm

Some of the best food ever had was Lebanese in LA and Jerusalem Cafe here in NC.

Will always love pitas with tahini and falafel. My mom made it the absolutely best. Actually taking a falafel class next month. Hopefully I can reach her level.

Funny thing is she was hardly a gamer She was just out in LA and it was the niche she fell into doing internet shows. Then she hosted some for G4 iirc online episodes and gained a following...then she got more into gaming.

Basically...put out content...engage with your audience like hell...treat them like friends...be a good person...the rest will follow. Men are suckers for gamer girls

I think I am missing parts of the story. Did this just happen, or are they going back in time? How do they deal with women getting pregnant? Obviously the woman would have to choose between her job and having the baby in this instance. Are they really strict about what coaches say? Appeared the players were definitely demanding more than 2 games. Would like to know how this turns out.

So Jack himself is safe. Now think of those around you. Are there any girls, nieces, others you know, etc. that have to live in a society where they are pressured to conform to these expectations? Are there any sons, nephews, etc. that will make many bad choices because of what they see? And also consider the world you are leaving your grandkids. But for all I know you live in a cave in Wyoming.

Agree with this. It is the argument I remember years ago for social safety nets and ensuring others basic decency and living standards. I was about 12 and was debating someone on the internet from an anti-homeless/social safety net perspective. They made some points that I didn't quite grasp at the time, but stuck with me and changed my views as I matured.

It may not affect you right now, but it will affect others...and at some point, even if you only worry about you and yours...it will invariably end up affecting you and yours very likely. The world is a circular web and none of us are siloed apart from the whole (barring the Hermit Theory). Same reason that even suicide can be considered immoral, despite the almost ultimate principle of self-autonomy.

They made some points that I didn't quite grasp at the time, but stuck with me and changed my views as I matured.

Some of them get paid, the vast majority hope to but never do. The bigger problem is that the message of "posting nude (covering a nipple doesn't mean it's not nude) photos is courageous and confident" is becoming more and more pervasive.

This was a previous incident from my understanding during the offseason/prior to her taking the job…the WNBA is coming down on her because they’re protecting the women’s choice and privacy…Candace Parker took time away from the game when she became pregnant so a coach having a issue with that is news to me…I always thought it was ok and they just took time away but still traveled with the team.

^A lot of times stuff happens that way. You don't realize you like something or are any good at it until you fall into it. I've done pretty well with people online so I think I have the ability to do it but I've never tried to do anything that wasn't web forums or in-game.

But the ramifications of that system is that your average woman in our culture is starting to believe that showing skin is proof of confidence and courage.

If "showing skin" is the bar, then I digress. Is this Saudia Arabia? Or Puritan times?

Do men showing off their biceps give them confidence and courage? Honest question. I'd say hell yes. I was there in college oh and NicksJunk is still there (Love you man, please don't pulverize me)

Not saying it may be healthy for any human, especially a younger one, to base their sense of value on such a fleeting quality. But if it is part of a larger package of understanding, well that's not abnormal. Men also find their value in "providing" for their family. And women for "caring" for their family. And some folks don't fit into those boxes whatsoever. I think flexibility in understanding your value is critical. Value yourself first and foremost. The rest will follow, as you won't be defined by others...so the rest will be either icing or moot.
