I know all that...it was still his plan, he said it was the only way Japan could win....if not for Midway being such a devastating loss for them it probably would have still worked after all.

Imo
I agree with the first part. I am not sure if Midway had gone the other way if it would have ended differently. No way to know for sure, thank goodness.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect it but there is a lot of smoke surrounding it and that typically is an indication of way more that is not known. Do you disagree that we used the Lusitania as an excuse to enter WW1? The German's sinking it was pretty damn predictable.

Lol, ze Germans even bought advertising in U.S newspapers warning the public what would happen leading up to them sinking it.
I am not as familiar, so I if I get time, I will research it. I think a lot of the theory about Pearl Harbor has some basis in fact. I think a lot of people use it today to criticize FDR. I do know that Churchill was ecstatic it happened because he knew we were in with England and the Allies. It seems a big reach to make the leap we encouraged it. That is sacrificing thousands of lives. I also know public sentiment before Pearl Harbor was still vastly in favor of staying out of it, so that does add some credence to the theory. I still don't think any of the evidence is nearly strong enough to support the theory.

Totally confused why so many prognosticators are picking LSU to be a juggernaut this year. Same thing with Jaden, their qb, seen several picking him as a Heisman favorite.

They do this every year. Daniels has been too inconsistent and if he’s off, LSU is going to struggle..
Probably because Kelly took them from afterthoughts to winning the West in....season 1! Beat Bama for only the 2nd or 3rd time in a very long time. So their trajectory looks pretty darn good and LSU, doubt them as we will, recruit top 10 classes every year in their sleep.

That was a good coaching job, have to give hi-um his credit, fam-uh-lee

*sigh* off to the hospital we go... Please keep my dear one in your thoughts and prayers. His confusion level is up high enough for concern and he's at the hospital now (his nurse called the ambulance). I'll be on my way there as soon as I get some things together. The past week has been really, really difficult but his current hospice told me they'd have no issue re-admitting him which eases a lot of stress. I'm hoping it's something relatively simple that can be fixed. He's not been the same since his last hospitalization earlier in the year but I know in my heart that he can cycle back to me. I miss "him" (he's been here physically but mentally he's not been himself completely - even on good days - and more than anything I want our time together to be with him present and aware). Right now though, he's barely cognizant.

Prayers sent.

I hope you are correct. The defense was terrible last year and we didn't flip the roster or coaching staff yet. I'm hopeful the pieces we did add and another year of experience + S&C will give us an average to decent squad on defense this year. I fully expect to see Tank starting safety again and I'm not too excited for that. Heup can do no wrong for me tho so I'll enjoy it regardless.
The defense was terrible in a couple of games. Over all, it was not great, but improved from the previous year. I simply trust our coach. All evidence to this point makes it easy to do that.

This will be interesting for all of college sports. Knoxville is an interesting location for this. The market is kinda there but also kinda not. If Danny knocks it out of the park they will come. I can't imagine the numbers this would have drawn during football season last year.
I promise I am not trying to pick on you, but why do you say the market is kinda not there?

Anyone else get the real feeling we will sign a top 5 class?
I did for a bit. That said, I don't keep up with crootin like I used to (now that we're actually good at that whole football on the field thing these days).

Think we'll need to climb back up towards a 91.5-92 average with some big studs down the stretch to do it, but it's for sure a possibility. Seems like we're in on enough big names from light scanning.

You've been on some really bad takes lately.

Totals for career

Admiral in 132 games: 1570 points, 704 rebounds, 177 assists, 88 steals, 47 blocks
JJJ in 108 games: 968 points, 615 rebounds, 229 assists, 134 steals, 85 blocks

He's one of the most complete players we've ever had at UT. He was just never really asked to be the primary offensive threat while here. He leaves here with a sweet 16 and SEC Tournament title to his name something very few VFLs can claim.
Thank you for doing this. Facts are facts. Sometimes, they confuse people or those people ignore them if they don't fit their agenda.

Come on... "I lean".

Vertigo...

Balance...

Come on!

Too-rye-ay.

No, hotels. Just went for work. 7k was lowest end for a night in Manhattan.

Even here in Asheville it is 5k a night low end. It's crazy. Said all this a week ago. Major inflation
I found some in a 1 bedroom condo for $350/night in Manhattan, $500/ for 4th of July week.
The Manhattan Club | RedWeek

I usually always use redweek.com, because you almost always get an entire condo, instead of a small hotel room.

Not he, but I'd guess just based on both population and local residence proximity to said location.

The Battery is...in Atlanta...in the burbs near a ton of people...and has tons of parking on-site. It's built for any day of the week. Also...baseball has, what? 90 homes games + playoffs each year?

This would be in Knoxville, a significantly smaller market than Atlanta (albeit close for UT students during school months) - the downside is much of Knoxville has been reluctant to visit downtown/UT areas often outside of special events and UT games.

That all said, if they can truly produce a desination area, that can stand on its own 2 feet away from gamedays, which I think is both possible and should be the target, then it could be a huge success. It needs easy access and stuff for all, year-round. I'm very hopeful. This could be insane. I know I'd come to more games.

I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I feel like this new British-Nigerian DE we got is gonna be a good one. He’s 6’4”/6’5” at 240 lbs with probably another 20-30 lbs to be added on. Not to mention his wingspan is over 7 feet. I just remember Constantin Ritzman.

I'll be honest, Jayden Daniels at LSU (a team that's just 4 seasons removed from 15-0 and a national title and just finished last season 10-4 and played in Atlanta) is the most obvious Heisman favorite of the bunch in the SEC.

Last year in the SEC he finished 3rd in completions (Only Will Rogers & Stetson Bennett had more), 2nd in completion % (only Hendon Hooker was better), 1st in rushing yards and rushing TDs. Sure he only threw for 2913 passing yards and just 17 passing TDs but his 3 INTs were 2nd fewest behind only AJ Swann/Hooker who both had 2.

So Daniels in year 2 with all the talent LSU has is honestly the most logical choice in the SEC to be a Heisman favorite among QBs. KJ Jefferson I'd put behind him and then 3rd place I'd make a strong case for Joe Milton ahead of Rattler and Dart.

But if I was going to put any sort of money on a SEC player to win the Heisman at this point I'd say smarter money would go on Quinshon Judkins RB from Ole Miss. Lead the SEC in rushing yards AND TDs last year if Ole Miss wins 10 or more games and he has a similar season I expect he'll be high on most voting lists considering that last year he had arguably a better season than Blake Corum.

Rbs dont win the heisman anymore, silly

Oh me too, totally. I wouldn't call myself a coach worshiper, but it's hard to be critical of Heupel. For discussion's sake, I don't mind pointing out the negatives. It's like the smartest kid in your class getting a 95/100 on the final exam and the class average was a 50. Room for improvement but not much.

What do you mean, what I pay?
Sorry, peso. I'm fully flush in pesos these days. USD's days are nigh. I'm investing in pesos and wampum. Paid straight cash pesos in Mahattan but it cost over 6,000 a day for a low end hotel. Prices just keep going up.
