Some of us grew up watching the Braves on TBS in the 80's. That was how I learned the game. I never even thought it had anything to do with that crapheap in Athens.
Daggum moran. Should've been watching WGN and Bozo The Clown. Not Ted Turner's indoctrination station.

Edit: Somewhat Orange.'d

I wonder how that affects the Braves fanbase as a whole. Lots of Braves fans in Middle and East TN.

Will tenured Braves fans in Nashville disown the Braves and immediately cheer for the Nashville team? Or just simply have 2 teams to support.
2 teams.

A Nashville team isn’t going to come and wipe out my memories of watching the Braves growing up and idolizing Chipper Jones when I played.

All that said, I only really watch postseason games now anyways. I will gladly go to Nashville games in the regular season though as I enjoy going, just not watching on TV.

i've seen several posts over the past few weeks talking about where we'll be ranked and that it should be top 5 if we get this or that etc....i've seen some others with maybe some more realistic in the top 10....

How about where this season's team will be ranked...

First model ranking I've seen this year has VOLS finishing #7. It is not a poll, but rather predictive model taking into account returning starters, transfers, schedule, recruiting class, etc.

The Athletic preseason top 25 model

I like seeing the responses about Nashville getting a team and how to support it while maintaining fandom of another team. It’s a fascinating topic.

Living in Memphis, the Grizzlies have been here for 22 years and there are still some older NBA fans that root for the Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, etc. But over time, those fanbases have decreased in this area.

It'll take time to establish a firm dominance. The youth will grow up being a fan of Nashville's new team. The youth that grew up with the Grizzlies are now in their 20's, 30's, and early 40's.

It is hard to give up decades of fandom. But I have seen when push comes to shove, it's split 50/50 when both teams face head to head.

That's how it happened. Ted filled his station's programing up with his own team. Good business move.
People also grow up fans of teams because that's who their fathers and grandfather's pulled for. My father and grandfather were fans of Tennessee football and basketball. Lifelong Cowboys and Dodgers fans that what I watched so that's who I pull for. Any year now I could return into a Titans fan 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You don’t have to explain it to us….. just the Georgia Bulldog fan sitting beside you at the game.

So looking more and more like Awaka is going to play the 5 with Aidoo mostly next season, based on what he's doing for the USA U19 team and also based on the transfers we brought in.

Will be interesting to see who they have run point why ZZ gets back to 100%. Gainey, Freddie, Santi, or Mashack could all do it.

Team still has some good size with a total of 5 players 6'8" or taller and 4 guys that are 230lbs + (with one being Estrella, so he could add some size before the seasons starts still).

Hopefully Ledlum can offer a similar inside threat for us that Grant had while here. That would allow Aidoo, Estrella, and Awaka to play more 5 and focus on rebounding/defending instead of worrying about scoring as much.

No it's the same. To root for anyone but the enemy.

Like a mid 90s football fan. You don't run to the freakin Falcons or whoever. It's why so many went for the far-distanced Cowboys.

Braves fans just can't come to grips with their cognitive dissonance. Their own radio guy literally hates UT through and through. And people go elbow to elbow with these folks?!?

Could never be me.
It's 1974, and Hank Aaron is about to break Babe Ruth's record. Yet, we Tennesseans, even though we don't have a team of our own, and won't still in 2023, can't get behind him, root for him, become a fan of him and his team, because he's "the enemy". Cut to 2023, Devo holds it against us because we didn't support a black man back in 1974.

I'm a Braves fan because of my papaw. He was a Braves fan all his life and loved the Vols. Compiling all Braves fans as UGA fans is just ignorance. We've lived in E TN forever. All love the Vols. Professional allegiances have nothing to do with college teams

@Mrpeabody8888 is Sam Amick on campus right now? Saw on Twitter someone saying he is but I have some questions about his reliability. However I'm more football and basketball in terms of what I cover so I'm not as tapped into the baseball recruiting/portal inside info. So do you have an update on what's going on there?
You mean Billy from Clemson? Yes he is visiting.

I hate to say it, but I think we run up 5-10x this amount if last year's team went to Omaha.

Nobody was beating LSU because they are LSU and because they wanted to show-up Ole Miss. And now nobody will beat them because that's a ridiculous amount of jello shots

in our defense, the song doesn't talk about people coming to rocky top for jello shots...

This is one competition I'm happy to lose.

Of course I'll maintain my Braves fandom and if the Nashville team ends up in the AL they will be my AL team but will always err on the side of the Braves. To lumps all Braves fans in with GA fans is asinine considering they are located closest to a school that have as much, if not more, disdain for the leg humpers than we do. (GT)
