Once dayhiked Roan (N) I believe, toward this direction. My friend and I made it approx 6 miles before we called it. Cant imagine having a large rucksack across my back.

Longest day hike I've done was probably Indian Flats Falls. Went when it had snowed about 2 inches in Knoxville, but up there was about 5. Could easily drive in to the trailhead and the temperature was about 55 by the time I got there.
