Are you lighting fireworks tonight, tomorrow night, Monday or Tuesday night?

No to all. Our neighbors have been blowing them off for the past three or four nights already and our dog can't stand storms or fireworks. We give him CBD treats and they help some but we hate the week leading up to the 4th of July and even a few days after cause everyone spends their kids college funds on fireworks to make pretty boom booms. It use to be one night and it was over. Now it is at least a week and a half of having to have a stressed out dog.

Sorry for the vent.

I freakin live in Harlan County Kentucky....aka Bloody Harlan...c'mon man 😏

Not skeered. Half my fam is from Bell. My great-grandparents were murdered over a mine's payroll. Violence was just a part of life there (still is although not as bad as it was) for so long. You sure as hell couldn't trust the law to operate on your behalf and that led to a lot of people taking things into their own hands which in turn led a pretty awful cycle of violence. TBH, if you (general) heard the stories I've heard (and I've heard it from the descendents of victims and the descendents of perpetrators and sometimes both are in the same family) you'd never question why some people run when pulled over or absolutely panic whenever a cop is around (in certain areas - both white and black - law enforcement is the biggest threat to your person even over someone you're feuding with).

In coal towns where law enforcement was bought and paid for by big mines and corrupted from the start, it was even worse because they were never policing on behalf of the citizens and were never answering to the city or state but to a distant corpo that was signing their paycheck.

I've been to Belize, the Turks and Caicos, the Dominican Republic and Honduras... and Mexico on cruises and we took a couple little road trips through a little of south-central Canada when I was a teenager...but that's it.

I hope to at least knock out all the full 47-50ish NPs (they've added a few in the last few years so I'm not sure the exact number) in the lower 48 before I croak..but I've only been to 23 (edit: 24, I forgot Mesa Verde...Edit #2: 25, I forgot that they've just turned Gateway Arch into a full NP in 2018 and we've been there twice since 2011) full NPs so far, so I still have over half of them to go.

We have also been to a ton of the top State Parks in the states we have visited, and a ton of the National Monuments, NRRAs, National Battlefields, National Sea-lakeshore and National Historic parks which are in the NPS system...and a lot of the popular National Forest sites which are in the NFS system...which are highly underrated and underfinaced imo.

We are going to 4 new countries on a 10 day cruise we are taking in November...Costa Rica, Panama, Cayman Islands and Cartagena Columbia...so I will be able to say I've been to another continent.

Ps: IMO...Gateway Arch, while really cool, and while I think everyone should check it and the museums on-site out...should not be a full NP..

There are several AWESOME scenic areas among our federal lands that should have been made a full NP before that place.

Costa Rica is apparently awesome. Wife and stepmom spent a vacation down there. Lots of protected areas. They take their nature very seriously. Great outdoor spaces, wildlife, people, and food.

Dealing with the same thing. Lived in a rural area growing up and the dogs didn't care about the fireworks. 4th of July was awesome, we'd invite family and friends and have a big show in our field.

Now living in a neighborhood and 1 of the dogs doesn't care for it. And people have been lighting off huge fireworks starting last night. Just save them and blow your fingers off on Tuesday.

Can confirm. Just stick to the touristy areas and avoid Limon Province. There's some "our sh*t don't stink" vibe with Costa Rica but I still loved it.

Keep an eye out for Louisville the next few seasons. We all know Vols were cheated Vs Purdue in the bowl game but that doesn’t mean Brohm isn’t a good football coach. Natural fit at Louisville. I think they’ll be regulars in the top 25 as well as winning 10+ games a season
Thanks Jimmy
