The NCAA is fixing to have a ton a schools oppose them. Why do the seem like they are stuck in another reality. They should have just let boosters do there thing. And govern what they can control which is very little these days. It’s like they are trying to pick fights with schools. And surely they don’t think they can win in court going against schools citing state laws. Universities need to make a break away plan if the NCAA is going to try to play all hard with everyone.

Then the universities themselves are basically admitting any future association they create is basically meaningless if schools can just cheat, then make state laws making cheating ok. And they're the ones that want and have voted on these rules. It's literally their own rules. If a few break them and the others don't, what does that say to the abiding ones?

I'd also think an association can do as they please as far as championships go. Just like the PGA, they don't have to let anyone in to a certain event if they break rules.

Just like the NFL had marijuana banned for Denver players, despite state laws. Associations are voluntary and it's not illegal to punish folks within said association's rules, despite state laws saying something is ok.

Just for fun: My favorite player from every SEC school

Alabama - Preston Dial
Auburn - Rob Shuler
Arkansas- Billy Ray Smith
Florida- NOBODY
Georgia- Hershel Walker
Kentucky- Jared Lorenzen
LSU - Charles Alexander
Miss St - John Bond
Ole Miss - John Forcade
Mizzou - James Wilder
South Car - Steve Tannehill
Texas A&M - Curtis Dickey
Tennessee- Jimmy Streater
Vanderbilt- Fred Fisher

lol I’ll have to tell Preston you think that highly of him. He’s a character

I loved the Pruitt hire…. I should probably sit out coaching searches.😂
In fairness, Pruitt probably could’ve been a good coach if he wasn’t so stubborn and self centered. He was a “my way or the highway” and people either loved him or hated him in the athletic department. I feel like if he wouldn’t have tried sticking his hand in the offense so much he could’ve turned out differently, ntm the ncaa violations, which probably would’ve been swept under the rug if Pruitt didn’t make so many enemies in the athletic department

No matter how good recruiting is going, I find I'm always waiting for that unexpected punch to the gut. Can't seem to shake that dread. I always expect something bad to happen. When it comes to recruiting, I think BVS will always be real.

And ftr, I think we're doing good in recruiting. I just suffer from natural paranoia.

It always a narrative of 'well, clemson was done at WR.'

'The kid, who's brother is extremely tight with, plays at Tennessee. But kid doesnt want his decision to be about that. He's been to Tennessee 5,670 times since last Monday, and passes by it on way to his summer job. He's already lifting with the team, but wants to go on a spiritual retreat to decide between the nose talkers and Tennessee...

he may take another visit to make sure.'

'Tennessee who's NIL collective is at the forefront of airthan' - presented a great offer, brought in their first round draft pick to host the OT. They currently have 25 Guards & 0 offensive tackles, and though the kid is a perfect fit, loves TN, has visited there more than anywhere else, and could see himself olaying for Coach Huepel. Will announce for Georgia next week.'

A tale as old as time.

I grew up in Tennessee, I love the smokeys, and cost of living is stupid ridiculous in Denver... But the Rockies are just not a "similar mountain view." They're a whole different level of mountain. I'll never forget my first time there, I was wonderstruck.

Ive spent time in CO, WY, and MT. While I think MT is the prettiest of all those places. Appalachians are stunning, perhaps even prettier. Asbsoroka-esque.

The coal that runs down the Nolichucky Gorge is how we made our living. Graves up and down and around Indian Grave Gap, to the Shelton Laurel Massacre over Spivey Mtn into NC...history connects us.

I truly believe the section of Applachians from
Boone to Asheville, including Roan, Sugar, Mitchell, are the most beautiful that ive seen.IMG_7137.jpeg

Beautiful, sure. I do love that stretch, Asheville to JC is a gorgeous drive.

But majestic, awe-striking, humbling...not like the Rockies.

I think the "citng state laws" thing is a misnomer. The state can create any law according to their constitution. But the limits of state law do not (always) necessitate the rules governing private orgs and clubs.

The state can make a law stating that you can walk around in a g-string. That doesn't mean that your employer, or your church, has to change their dress code to allow g-strings.

I'm surprised so many people on here don't get that distinction. Unless the NCAA infringes on the protected rights of protected groups, they can limit rules of membership below the threshold of state permissions.

The greatest trick by the schools is to act like the NCAA isn’t them…. If the NCAA does something that the schools don’t like then it will be changed…. If state law is something that the NCAA has no control over then state law will be followed… If not…. Schools will go by the rules of their governing board(NCAA)…. The Texas A&M guy was just running off at the mouth. If the big schools go and form their own division….. they will just create a new NCAA with a different name.
Bingo.

"NCAA 2.0" is the great myth.

Hellfire.

If TAMU is gonna do it, then I say we pass a law saying any UT game played within the boundaries of Tennessee shall henceforth be reffed by Peyton Manning alone.

We also get to play an extra player on every down and they have to sing Rocky Top at halftime or else they forfeit the game.

I gre up in Appalachia. For my money, Alaska is best, then Washington, then Oregon, then California. The Pacific mountains are just spectacular and incredibly diverse.

Reading back through the CJH hiring comments, and it's sad how entitled sports fans are. CJH is a perfect lesson in why sports fans need to sit down and shut up.

There is this expectation that a good AD needs to hire with the fan base psyche in mind, when in actuality a fan base is largely a collection of ignorant fools with fragile psyches that billion dollar institutions can't and shouldn't base business and program decisions on.

Quoting below, not as an example of ignorant fool or psyche, but as an example of that ridiculous sentiment.

One of the biggest problems with all of this is that leadership did not set the proper expectations. At the DW presser they should have leveled with the fans about the current situation and said they were going to try and get the best guy that they could, but it will be hard to land a big name. Given the unknowns about the NCAA they should not have put any conditions on who the hire would be or could be. That was a huge mistake because it allowed the fans to create a wish list of all the big names that in normal times might come.

This has not helped the emotional roller coaster that we have all been on. Also, it doesn’t help that we supposedly landed a rock star AD but now can’t land a rock star HC. Or at least a up and coming guy who would at least give fans a lot of hope to believe in. Rightly so many fans are having flashbacks from the Dooley and Butch hires.

With that said, I am not believing anything until a guy walks up to the podium.
