No I think he will be a great WR, but I'm not expecting greatness of him in YR 1. He will be a JR this year and hasn't had a ton of production yet in his career.

In 2 seasons he has 3 TDs. 541 YDS. He has 2 games with more than 60 YDS (90 YDS vs Oklahoma 2021(Bowl); 151 YDS vs Utah 2022) and no games with more than 4 receptions. Now I think he at least matches his career stats this season but I'm not expecting a Biletnikoff season was my point.

To your Javonta Peyton comp: Peyton had 400 YDS and 6 TDs in 2021... so that's not actually as far off of what I think is a reasonable expectation.
Did you “expect” Tillman or Hyatt before their respective breakouts?

I dont think anyone saw it coming from Tillman his 1st year way Heupel. He was a JR then, right?

Same for Hyatt. He was dropping passes and didnt have a great first yr with Heupel, so I dont think anyone expected a Biletnikof year from him.

There is definitely some buzz for Thornton this summer. I think we'll see that buzz explode when fall practice starts. People are either underestimating his abilities, or just don't realize how bad and fast he is.

I'll probably get knocked for the comparison, but he has the potential to have an impact like the very best WRs we've seen over the years (Moss, Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson). Not saying he plays like any of them or is built like any of them, just that he could have the impact on his team as they did on theirs.

Never gets old. The sound and sight of the crowd going crazy, the Bama DB looking at the ground in defeat, Hyatt looking back and seeing nobody anywhere near him, and the weight of the moment/game all caught perfectly together in frame.

It really could be the greatest TD video ever.

Every year except one…. Heup’s offense has produced between 1,,000-1,500 yd wide receiver… practice reports before season 1 stated that Tillman was without a doubt the number one receiver and our best deep receiver…… Last year it would have been Tillman again but once injured… the only option was Hyatt…. He had changed his body and Heup would move him around to put him in the best position to succeed…. This year it will be either Squirrel or Donte bc they will be getting the majority of the explosive plays…. I have a feeling it will be squirrel…. He has a quickness no one else on the team has. Did I think Hyatt or Tillman would win the Belitnikoff award? No.

Yes and yes…. WRs always eat in this office…. I think he will be good but we have overrated him as a fanbase.
Did you POST it? I didn’t because the net production from each surprised me. I knew the offense would exponentially increase in production…low bar from the previous 15 years. I see Thornton as an obvious emergent talent, so I’ll be surprised if he’s NOT a beast year one.

My tan is coming along nicely.

That “tan” appears to be mostly dirt and grass with some leg hair to help hold it together.

I’m now up to about 56 basal cell cancers over the years. I’m going to have to have about 9 Mohs procedures this Fall. Too many sunburns. I am concerned that many may also be due to X-Ray scatter radiation exposure to my legs below the knees. That’s where most of them are currently.
Thankfully, they are not squamous cell or malignant melanoma.

Public Service Announcement: For years, I used Aldara cream to get rid of the basal cell cancers. Just found out that it’s only about 70% effective in completely eradicating the basal cell. If it’s a superficial type, then it works the best. If the basal cell is nodular, then none of the topical meds are effective against it. It may temporarily reduce its size, but it’s just burrowing deeper. Also, if it doesn’t get 100% of the superficial lesion, the transition to nodular is pretty high. (By the end of this football season, I will look like Frankenstein’s monster. 😁)

But that will be okay because our Vols will be

15-0 🤠

Probably not any proclamations(I usually don’t do those)…. I did talk about how dominant Tillman was in practice…. Hyatt was just the obvious choice after Tillman bc his skill set was best to be the leading receiver… I do think Donte will be great… we still overrate the guy with some of the comparisons that I have seen by our fanbase.

It's an opinion if we're overrating anybody atp. Time creates facts...one way or the other.

Looking at previous national champions in CFB there is a clear model Tennessee is following schematic wise with that being 2019 LSU
Get a top 5-8 range roster talent with a tremendous quarterback, elite receivers and elite defensive talent. But mainly the tempo of the two. While 2019 LSU was alittle slower tempo wise they still were by far one of the most uptempo teams to win a National championship recently. Yet I don’t remember many people calling them a “gimmick”
