On another note…..anyone ever thought what Coach Vitello/Anderson could do with Joe on the bump?? Wonder if he ever threw it?? I cannot imagine…..
Stories of Milton’s size and strength are legion. Multiple defensive linemen in different interviews have told GoVols247 they were initially a bit angry when they first saw the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Milton last summer, because they thought their coaches had quietly signed a defensive lineman without telling them. Milton — who grew up chasing rabbits in Pahokee, Florida — also is known for his ability to do standing back flips on command, but tales of his arm strength are more prevalent. Clemson senior defensive end KJ Henry suggested Milton is doing just fine on the football field but could probably make a lot of money playing baseball, and the quarterback said several teammates have told him the same thing. But he’s always loved football, and his high school coach shut down Milton’s brief flirtation with America’s pastime. The coach initially told him he could try it and could stick with it if he liked it, and Milton did like it, but the coach then quickly changed his mind and told him to stop.

Imagine him as an outfielder catching the ball at the wall and still throwing out the runner at the plate with his cannon arm.

I would like to see some data on how well portal prospects and teams that rely on portal prospects pan out. I think people celebrating over portal rankings is ridiculous. Shouldn't even be a thing.

'22 Transfer Rankings (and how they finished)

1. USC (11-3)
2. Ole Miss (8-5)
3. LSU (10-4)
4. OU (6-7)
5. Texas (8-5)
6. Bama (11-2)
7. Nebraska (4-8)
8. UCLA (9-4)
9. USCJr. (8-5)
10. Arkansas (7-6)
11. FSU (10-3)
12. Miami (5-7)
13. TCU (13-1)
14. SMU (7-6)
15. UCF (9-5)

So of the top 15 it's a mixed bag. 10 of them won 8 or more games though, and of that 10 5 of them won 10 or more games. I think it matters, but I honestly think the idea of reranking players is kind of pointless. We're not adjusted previous team rankings for the teams that are losing those players. Track 'em with their HS rankings and don't let transfers impact the team rankings from a recruiting standpoint.

I’d say they all had room for transfers because of different reasons too. Some had their best players leave for better opportunities and others were prob asked to leave bc the team wanted to trim the fat.

Looking forward to tonight's game being over. People are sick of hearing the same ESPN push narratives every hour of every day. Wonder how long they'll continue to push the winner after it's finally a wrap.

But... let 'em bark. Good week for UT, too!

Yeah, college basketball is in full swing and the amount of media attention they place on the college playoffs is absurd. I'm sure once we're in the championship game that's when ESPN will totally stop showcasing the hourly narratives though.

Hell I was flabbergasted at how one sided the Orange Bowl coverage was. Seemed like we never heard about any of our players or their stories, but I know Clemson's freshmen QBs blood type now thanks to the anecdotes they felt had to be repeated over and over throughout his ****** performance.

I'm higher on Tennessee next season than all of my colleagues and that's okay — I put the Volunteers inside the top 15 to begin the 2022 season, too. This offense replaces a couple key playmakers, including Jalin Hyatt and Hendon Hooker, but new-look Tennessee did take Clemson in the Orange Bowl with Joe Milton at quarterback. He'll be on the preseason Heisman shortlist next season given his talent level under center. Josh Heupel's program will hope to continue its surge nationally, but will be the hunted this time around.

Billy Wagner was about 5'11".

Only difference to me would be angle of trajectory.

Some folks hide ball better. To me toughest pitchers I ever faced threw less than 85MPH. Tall, lefty, skinny as a rail threw about 3/4 down. Ball literally fell off the plate, breaking away.

Granted dinosaurs roamed the Earth...

We had a guy that would drop down too. Could throw a fastball in from side. Was crazy stuff. Not so bad from left, but heck for a rightie.

What is this "tonight's game" you speak of?

You want to bring in a QB that, at his best, has proved to be a middle of the pack QB in the NFL (and that’s being VERY charitable), and put him on a roster that would be the least talented he’s been on yet. Good luck with that. You’ll never get a franchise QB following that path.
Titans ain’t getting a franchise QB in this draft anyway. Cut bait with Tannehill and hold off until next years draft…..or would you rather draft Anthony Richardson or Will Levis at #11 if they are available? smh

Who QBs Bama next year? They are not #2, book it.

I mean 12th is pretty solid...I'd have us top 15. I however don't agree with having Clemson (who will start a QB next season with 2 games of experience) that we handled in the Orange Bowl ahead of us. I also don't think LSU who lost 2 more games and got waxed head to head against us should be that high.

TCU being 15th is also a bit of a slap in the face for them too. Also why the love for FSU, didn't even play in their conference title game and had 3 losses. Squeaked by a 500 OU to finish with their 10th win, suddenly going to be the 6th best team in the country though?

On another note…..anyone ever thought what Coach Vitello/Anderson could do with Joe on the bump?? Wonder if he ever threw it?? I cannot imagine…..
I think Joe would moreso be a catcher or outfielder. With that arm he could throw down and pick off anyone. He threw the orange 110 yards. I have no doubt he could throw a baseball that far or further. That's 330 ft. I think with his size he'd be a pretty intimidating catcher, but I'm new to baseball.

I doubt he's got enough control to be a pitcher. He mentioned he came out for a day in high school and the baseball coach told him to stick to football. Which, imo, is a stupid thing to do. You'd think you'd want as many athletes on your high school team as possible.

Yep, the producers prepare talking points and the heads try to stay on-script. When things don't go as expected, it's hilarious to watch them hammering narratives that no longer fit-- especially when they have packaged segments that are off. It's even funnier to watch them try to adapt on the fly.

We enjoy making a drinking game out of it. Had a side bet in the Orange Bowl on how many times they'd find a way to work in a negative narrative about UT. I took +5 and wasn't disappointed.

Overall I'd be more than happy to see a more Seahawks approach where the cap space is used to improve the OL and D and you try to make it work with a cheaper QB or a rookie deal. I even think Dobbs could be as serviceable as Tannehill has been, not like he's been a world beater here.

But if you can land Carr he is younger than Tannehill and an upgrade as well. Carr has more yards, higher completion %, more TDs and less INTs than Ryan and has done so playing in 3 less games. And he did that on worse teams than Ryan has played on.
Tannehill has an almost 19,000,000 dollar dead cap hit next year…. I wouldn’t get Carr unless you felt he was a Super Bowl winning qb…. Might have to ride out one more year of Tannehill before cutting him…. I would focus on building all the other positions and then draft your qb the next few years.

That post can't possibly have been directed at me because I've never once said that the Titans should draft a QB this year. In fact, I just suggested that starting Willis next year is the quickest route to landing a legitimate franchise QB.

Well having a great arm without being able to field a ball or hit worth a spit would be pretty useless for a guy that's playing outfield or catching for you.

Had Milton developed his baseball talent earlier in life he likely could have been a damn good player, but baseball isn't a sport where you just "try it out" and are successful.

Well obviously. I wasn't suggesting he give up football then magically be a godsend on the diamond. I was saying "had he been a baseball player, I think . . ."

Willis? Keep him. Fine, but bring in somebody that you can at least compete with. Nobody wants to go 0-17…..you wanna “tank.”
