I feel the following way. If you gave it a shot and weren't going to play and then transfer to a lower program to get playing time for your last 2 years of eligibility, it doesn't bother me. Especially if you leave on good terms, plan with the coaches, and are in good academic standing. If you make a literal move and were getting playing time here, I don't think you're a VFL.I hate the narrative of “if you transfer out you’re not a VFL” there are so many other reasons to transfer out than money or playing time, heck if it was playing time who could blame the player for doing whats best for their career? You dont work your whole life just to ride the bench in college, and sometimes the player is processed
He didn’t use play action nearly as much as Arthur Smith did either. Puzzling. Tannehill had like a 107 combined passer rating using that in 2019 and 2020Also, Downing literally quit calling the PA boot that has been Tannehill’s bread and butter the last 3 years. Truly fascinating stuff. He just quits calling what has worked time and time again
Watching his two games for the Titans I was actually pretty impressed with how much better his throws looked. You can tell he's worked on his game since leaving Knoxville. I'm hoping they keep him, he's a better backup than Willis and could mentor the young man if you think Malik has real potential to be the QB of the future.
Good times. Odell famously wore his $2M Richard Millie in week one against the Titans and the Titans SMOKED them. Completely knocked the Browns hype train off the rails and that roster/team never recovered.Yikes. Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, A Hooper, Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham, and one of the best OL in the league at that time lol
Yeah Dupree, Cunningham, woods are definite cuts. Lewan and B Jones retire imo. Tannehill will restructure. Frees up a lot of money to sign Jeff, Tart, Autry (hopefully), Long. They’re going to try to revamp while the core is still in tact I think. The OL is going to be the most interesting thing to watchNFL is wild though who knows what the Titans do. I expect to see a lot of older players with fat contracts that can't stay healthy not being on the roster though.
But they got Dobbs for next to nothing, he's probably making less than Willis is even. If I was their GM I'd try to sign him for a 1 or 2 year contract and at least keep him on the roster during the rebuild as a backup option to whoever the starter is until Willis' rookie deal is done.
Of all the QB names floated around that will be in new spots next season (Tannehill to Atlanta keeps coming up, why I think he may be gone) to me at least Derek Carr is the most realistic option.
We are going to really disagree on the roster being terrible. The only position groups that were bad to start the year were OL and WR. Injuries depleted the secondary and pass rushVrabel was the only reason why titans even got to 7 wins. Roster was beyond terrible, not helped by having the most injuries for the 2nd straight season either. Regroup. Cut a few fat contracts that can’t ever stay on the field and go after a few guys
I have a friend who's in local Nashville radio off air. According to people they know the reason they cut to the QB's parents so often is they prepared so much fluff in anticipation of a Clemson route and couldn't run it. They didn't consider that Tennessee was going to handle them and hadn't prepared enough pro Tennessee material.Yep, the producers prepare talking points and the heads try to stay on-script. When things don't go as expected, it's hilarious to watch them hammering narratives that no longer fit-- especially when they have packaged segments that are off. It's even funnier to watch them try to adapt on the fly.
We enjoy making a drinking game out of it. Had a side bet in the Orange Bowl on how many times they'd find a way to work in a negative narrative about UT. I took +5 and wasn't disappointed.

I just thought that was interesting and seemed to mesh with your overall point.
Well, the more reps you get with the one’s and the more focus you get from the coaches, the easier it gets…… No one should call those 2 starts a fair shot considering that O-line.I agree with your last paragraph and I’m glad they got Dobbs and played him over Malik. But as you know, the more you play, the more film teams get on you and the harder it gets
100% agree on the bottom. Baker sucksWell, the more reps you get with the one’s and the more focus you get from the coaches, the easier it gets…… No one should call those 2 starts a fair shot considering that O-line.
I don’t get the Baker Mayfield love. He has been awful for the Rams. The only game he was serviceable, was against the Broncos when Cam Akers ran wild and scored 3 TD’s and had a so so game against the Raiders his first week.
There are so many better options. Teddy Bridgewater would be better. I’d say keeping Dobbs would be equal to trying to bring in Mayfield.
Wasn’t Beckham a one year failure there? Landry has never approached what he did in Miami. Don’t remember this great OL…mebbe because I don’t recognize any of the names after Joe Thomas retired…which was before Mayfield. Once again, inferior coaching reigns supreme…*CoachingDownYikes.
