Not engaging on this item anymore. You are not comparing apples to apples, frame your arguments, etc. You do not compare against other top 5 SEC programs. When Willie gets his secondary into the top 75 nationally in passing yards allowed, completion percentage, and YPC - you have an argument as far as I am concerned. Others can buy it if they want, it's a message board. I 100% support your right to post anything you want.

There are just two significant factors that make the defense a bit hard to measure using traditional stats.

Total yards - At our pace you’re always going to see more total yards. The teams with the lowest totals against are always going to be your slow, plodding teams. We’ll never be that, and don’t want to be that.

CPT%/YPA - Also hard to measure our performance. Our game plan is to generate turnovers, which usually has us bringing more and having guys sitting back farther, which will bring up the numbers a bit.

My grandmother is turning 93 tomorrow. When she was a little girl in Humphreys County, my great grandfather had a mule and a covered wagon. He used to go around and pick up kids in the wagon and drop them off at school. That was her school bus all through elementary school. After 6th grade, she stopped school and went to work. It was a vastly different world but really only an instant ago in the grand scheme of things.

One of the cooler stories I’ve heard was how Belichick went to Leach asking how to best use Wes Welker (Leach was Welker’s coach at TX Tech). That has basically changed the way NFL teams value and use the slot receiver.

Weird that Bellichek couldn’t ask Welker who undoubtedly knew the Tech playbook inside and out…
