Another interesting tidbit from a Jones/Thigpen NSD interview on ESPN about locking down the state of Tennessee. Sounds to me like we made a run at Alex Bars and were told thanks but no thanks:

Jones said the Vols got everybody they wanted from the state in this class with the exception of ESPN 300 offensive tackle Alex Bars, who went to Notre Dame. Tennessee was also able to get a pair of in-state defensive linemen away from Vanderbilt. Michael Sawyers and Jashon Robertson had previously committed to the Commodores before re-opening their recruitment after James Franklin left for Penn State.

Vols' Jones makes state a priority

Sorry to distract from any miscellaneous philosophical ramblings, but I thought some people might like to know what the UT football coach had to say about the proposed rule changes:

Ugh!! Take this football discussion where it belongs....

...oh... never mind. Just looked at the thread title. Sorry about your keyboard. Proceed.

On possibly cancelling Junior Day this weekend...

-Fortenberry

The list here looks pretty long. Not sure who VQ is expecting.

I'll be honest, I'm really interested for the March 1 camp. I'd like to see if we pursue Griffin after seeing him live. Unusual that we pass on a 5 star back but so far he seems to be the more interested party. I'm cool with whatever the coaches do, but keeping he and Edoga out of Athens would be a plus.

I think VQ is saying many of the guys who were planning to come aren't going to anymore. It's pretty bad out there in NC and VA and other places too I'm sure.

Makes sense.

Hope we can get Settle and Tuttle to reschedule if they don't make it in.

If it was just one I'd say it was just a random recruiting thing, but for them to both tweet that at the same time is probably indicative of a boom.

@wesrucker247: Ten of the #Vols students in last night's Neyland Stadium snowball fight were given citations. Ridiculous.

Absolutely insane. The KPD needs a swift kick in the nads.

Oh no. Some on here will probably think they need to be kicked off the team for this.

Was it KPD or UT Police? I thought it was UT Police that made them leave the stadium. Did they charge them with throwing snowballs?

From TV site: A snowball fight in Neyland Stadium Wednesday night led to eight University of Tennessee students being cited for trespassing and two for underage drinking.

300 people took part in the snowball fight around 11 p.m. Wednesday night.

It only lasted about half an hour before UT police officers showed up.

Most students left the stadium and were not cited. Officials were mainly concerned about damage to grass on the football field.
