Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

My statement was solely about the show. It became a popularity contest with teenage girls determining the outcome. More talented people have lost because of this.

I hope the guy wins. I won't be watching, but I hope he wins.

There were absolutely no hard feelings. Trust me, I agree completely with your assessment of the show.

I will add, however, that VolNation is up to the task of becoming a pack of teenage girls. NSD proves it every year. We could be the teenage girls that win the popularity contest this year.

Let the debate!

I have trouble going straight down the blues so backwards is a ways off for me.

I actually love this show - because I can sit down and enjoy truly talented young people giving it there all - hoping for a chance to make it to the next level...some of the performances over the years have brought tears to my eyes...

I don't get my knickers in a knot about who gets the most votes because the talent gets noticed and many who didn't "win" are out there living their dream...

(and gettin' my knickers in a knot makes me walk funny...) :)

carry on

I'm getting so jaded by the internet. I'm just about to give it up. No, Sig_Nu, you did nothing wrong. You were absolutely right. Other dude may have just been playing, and that's for him to determine (and prove), but fact is, more often than not, simpletons are just trying to work a cheap shot in to get a "Like" or two. It's pathetic, and I'm getting tired of it. If you have something legitimate to say, then say it. People will respond accordingly. If not, then reserve judgment.

Keep building that ignore list, Prof, the only way to stay sane if those comments get to you.

I keep seeing people say this, but we have the second most medals out of any country (12), and are in a 4 way tie for second most gold (4).

Sounds like we have LOWERED EXPECTATIONS and are MIRED IN MEDIOCRITY!!!! sorry..Imissfootball :ermm:

And despite any off-field distractions, Curt Maggitt and A.J. Johnson continue to lead the offseason charge --- and did so this week. That was after those players, as well as Jalen Reeves-Maybin, all met with not only Butch Jones but also linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen early this week.

Elsewhere, we hear Kyler Kerbyson is getting some cross-training at right guard while freshman mid-termer Coleman Thomas continues to impress at right tackle. Thomas, remember, was initially viewed as a potential option at center but he's continued to grow and his athleticism, strength and tenacity are turning heads.

Ethan Wolf continues to be an intriguing player; the mid-termer from Ohio is lending optimism about the potential to make an impact as an athletic, physical presence at tight end for the Vols. Tennessee continues to be in vastly better shape at that spot, with both Wolf and the versatile Daniel Helm as well as Branisel getting back to health, Brendan Downs doing the same and Alex Ellis also continuing to get back in the mix after missing all of last season.

One more thing not to miss: Jones and Hart have had discussions regarding all of the assistant coaches' contracts, and those items will be formally ironed out in the coming weeks. However, multiple sources tell VolQuest.com that linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen, widely seen as the single greatest catalyst other than Jones in this year's landmark recruiting class and Rivals.com's Recruiter of the Year, has received a raise and a new deal. Sources have said all along that the Vols "had a plan in place" to retain Thigpen, popular with his current players as well as recruits, even as schools like Ohio State and North Carolina came calling.

Which players will Thig recruit for '15??
Primary recruiter for both Cecil Cherry and Preston Williams who are commits.

Top targets are Ricky DeBerry, Kyle Phillips, Josh Smith, and Rico McGraw (UGA commit) to name a few.

Basically, Thig Daddy will do a bunch of crootin'
