Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

Never understood that move but Cross isn't an all American or anything. We will be fine with where we are at at RB after this season

Maybe not an AA, but 5.5 yards per carry and 17 touchdowns through his sophomore year is a solid contribution. I can think of a few times in the last couple of years we could have used 5 tough yards or a TD. As a junior, he would unquestionably be fighting for a starting position with Marlin Lane, but now, we have freshmen (talented, though they may be), and an unproven transfer in Pickett.

Just sayin... I'd have him on my roster if we had a "do over"

One of the toughest guys I know has 3 tattoes of disney characters...

Disney reaches all groups and is marketing genius, as well as putting out excellent product.

Flowd82 , are you still in college? Appreciation for different venues is not a bad thing.

My post towards KnoxVillain was not serious in nature. I have no problems with animated movies & I actually do appreciate many different venues.

Just wanted to say after watching the interview with Kesling that Big Donnie Tyndall is the freakin' man. Excited to see what he does here. Go Vols.

Hates animated movies and only appreciates one venue, IMO

prejudiced against disney

Donnie got me. Thanks for the video, Ron. He's going to mend the nation and bring everybody back together like Butch is doing. Looking forward to match up zone and Kansas style O system. Finally, a current, proven way of doing things. Love the protect the home court and the only thing that matters is to win the game attitude.

Great video, #1. North, Malone, Pearson, Croom, et al are going to explode once they have a QB that gets it running the show. Those guys are men. The trail of tears is nearly over.

I wouldn't have pegged Hill for an obvious transfer, but I can definitely see why he would. Who else do you guys think will transfer? Peterman seems like an obvious possibility...

I'm never happy seeing a VFL walk away.

You have not seen that. Not trying to bash Hill, but a Vol For Life would work harder, try harder and fight their way into the 2-3 deep at their position. There is a Maxim that addresses this. When the breaks are going against you, put on more steam (paraphrase from memory). How many times do the players chant these very Maxims? If they are just words, then you transfer or ride the bench. If they mean something to you, the you really are a VFL. (Ie M Palardy)

Jmo. /end rant :)

Spot on.

Regarding Graham cutting Cross loose, in a previous post... Yeah, I know that is what was said at the time. But no assistant makes decisions without the head coach signing off on it. Dooley cut a high character kid who was the class's first commitment, for what looked to be an identical player on paper. I know things happen in recruiting, and you never know, but this was a poor evaluation by the Dools

That idiot passed on Ameer Abdullah too. Boy I tell ya, there's a reason I used to stay into it on this board. There's a reason I wasn't liking the guys we were taking on the regular. Guys thought I was just dogging the prospects. That coach wasn't bringing in the level of guys to win the SEC. That's what I expect from the University of Tennessee coach.

He has a physical disadvantage that he can't outwork.... Come on now Doc..... :)

POA's Cam Sutton highlight vid inspired me to create a Marquez North highlight. This is my first time putting together/editing a video so I hope you guys like it! I may have missed some plays because it takes way too much time to skim through every hour of game film from last season.

Making this video reminded me how much of a monster North is!

Sick video. I'm not sure I've ever seen a WR with stronger hands than North, anywhere.

On 680 in Atlanta this morning, Tony Barnhart said there are only two coaches supporting a 9 game SEC schedule: Nick Saban and Butch Jones.

Very poetic Doc, but he is making a measured decision. as a rising junior, the incoming talent is better, and he continues to get passed on the chart.

He goes somewhere to play the game he loves, we get an additional roster spot, and nothing but love between the two parties.

Great decision, beneficial outcome

Say goodbye to the yearly UT-Bama game.

I'm conflicted on that. Tradition and the desire to beat Bama makes me favor keeping it.

But losing it probably benefits us, particularly since it will be another couple of years before our overall talent is remotely in the same league as theirs. Losing it would also hurt Bama in the near term.

I hope it stays but I won't melt down if we lose it.

I would absolutely hate it if that game goes away. The General and Bear would turn over in the grave.

Ashamed to admit it, but outwardly I'll kick a fuss, but inside, think, "thank goodness! At least we don't have an automatic loss chalked up."

I just wish we could stand toe to toe again, but Bama is just getting tougher, against all odds

Could work if they had some sort of tier system with 1 or 2 permanent rivals per tier.

Could see keeping Bama and Vandy.

Younger Vols think Florida biggest rival. Prior to late 80's, I can't remember many games against them.

Bama game has to remain.

Look guys, I know it looks pretty bad for the past several years against them. This rivalry is very cyclical and our time is coming again.

Mid 90's through mid 2000's I bet their fans were thinking the same.
