Soooo, we beat S Car, we upgrade our talent, have another year of continuity in coaching/system, they lose 2 gamechangers in shaw and clowney, and y'all are chalking it up as a loss??

I mean I don't think it will be a walk in the park, but I would give us a decent shot at a W in Columbia.

I agree, I like our chances in Columbia.

They also lost an OL and Ellington at WR. On D in addition to Clowney they lost 2 other DL and 2 CB.

The media is pumping Georgia up to be some sort of national contender this year, but I just don't see it. Yeah, Gurley is an animal, but he was out for spring ball. And I am by no means sold on the Hutson Mason kid. Aaron Murray he ain't. He doesn't have half the experience Murray did and if you get a pass rush in his face he'll look just like Jameis did in the first half of the NCG.

We also lost our whole O-line. Same can be said about us. I do see your point though. They lost some game changers. I'll say 65-35, advantage Ucock.

Bored... so heres my full season predictions

vs Utah State - 41-24 UT
vs Arkansas State - 44-17 UT
@ Oklahoma - 27-17 OU
@ UGA - 37-31 UGA
vs UF - 27-24 UT
vs Chatt - 38-13 UT
@ Ole Miss - 31-20 Miss
vs Bama - 42-13 UA
@ USC - 20-17 USC
vs UK - 34-17 UT
vs Mizzou - 27-16 UT
@ Vandy - 35-13 UT

End with 7-5 and head to a bowl game.

Still find it weird UF isn't our first conference game.

There are so many reasons to be frightened and so many reasons to be hopeful about this upcoming season. I'm usually pretty unsure how to make my own personal predictions, but this year is especially tough.

Spring practice wasn't even all that much help (it usually isn't). Too many guys coming in the summer. But then, that's a good thing, too.

Like clockwork every year...

college football has a record number of guys leaving early this year for the NFL - so a record number of guys who won't be playing their senior years against us - we lost only 1 to leaving early

5 of the SEC teams we play will go through a QB change that I can remember - bama - MO - USCjr - Vandy - UGA

bama had 4 juniors leave early
ole miss had top WR leave early
MO had top RB and Ealy decalre - also lost other top DE - lost DGB to xfer
USCjr lost Clowney, 3 other juniors, along with their all time winningest QB (who was a senior)
UF lost 3 early entries to NFL

now all these guys could get replaced with studs and nooone miss a beat but there certainly seems to be some opportunity this year that didnt appear to be there over the past couple

I don't think you can put who we lost in the same category as these guys

Shaw
Vhampton
Bellington
Kquarles
Clowney

even Sutton that they lost would have likely been our best defensive lineman

I agree. We definitely have a shot at Georgia. Mason played one good half against a mediocre GT team. Bobo clearly didn't trust him throwing the ball in the bowl game. Plus, the reports out of spring practice were that the Oline looked bad, especially at OT.

Also, I think our WRs are uniquely positioned to take advantage of UGA. Pruitt wants to play aggressive, man cover schemes but he's working with Langley and Wiggins instead of Joyner and Ramsey.

Their overall talent level is still better, but if we get decent QB play and any kind of pass rush, we could definitely take that game.

@SpiritBen: Al Pinkins has left #OleMiss to join Donnie Tyndall's staff at Tennessee. The two were assistants together for a time at MTSU.

Forgive the ignorance... Do we like this guy better than the Okie State guy, or is he still a possibility as well?

They would have preferred the Okie State guy but he was way too expensive. Apparently he wanted like $400k/yr and had a buyout as well.
