Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

I find it funny how people always jump in recruits threads and talk about level of competition, but when its within our program it doesnt matter

What is playing apologetics exactly? I'd never heard that one before. Whatever it is, you need to stop doing it:)

Having all of your errors come against 2nd team D (Ferguson) is pretty awful. Sorry you disagree.

You're a professor? I take it you did not do your thesis on "determining starters from flawed spring game evaluations"

Jk prof, I'll drop it now.. Apologies

While running the 2nd team offense. The offense that nobody did well with. The same offense that botched a snap for Dobbs. The same offense that Worley and Peterman couldnt score with. The same offense that Dobbs couldnt throw a TD with.

Others didn't make those errors when placed in a similar situation. It's not about the scoring but the errors/ints/sacks. That's where Fergy has to mature. Why this is controversial to state out loud - I have no clue.

Were the other placed in the same situation? Were there stunts and blitzes against the others? When the others ran with that team, were their receivers covered? Were the covered when Ferg ran that team? Did the Oline miss blocks when certain QBs ran it?

There are to many variables to make an assumption off of 1 practice. I dont see how that is so hard to understand

Sto, I'm basing my opinion on the entirety of the spring - videos plus the OW game. My opinion is different from yours and the majority around here. I'm fully aware of that but I'm entitled to it as much as anyone else is entitled to theirs. When I start attacking others for their opinions then please feel free to call me out. Until then a modicum of respect for differing opinions even if you think it's wrong/insane would be nice.

I ain't mad atcha but I don't think the snark was deserved. Lemme earn that snark first :)

Just saying but you are the only person that seems to have some rustlin jimmies. So just take a deep breathe, or two, or five and chill the **** out.

You earned it brother, a full measure of it, yet Only received half

I think the spring game really messed up our fans expectations for this season.

Worley isnt going to throw a 80% completion rate every game.
Dobbs isnt going to throw a deep ball touchdown every play.
Malone isnt going to have 10 yards of seperation every play.
The DBs arent going to get burned every play.
The Oline is going to get beat every play.

If were going to stretch the spring game and what it Must portend!, why aren't we talking about worleys 50 yard run and what a great runner he is now?

Seriously though I was digging that 11 of 13

I don't know about the spring game being any total measure of anything for any player but Worley's actually a better runner than he's given credit for but he's awkward as hell when he runs. The few times he kept it last year he made some plays.

My jaw dropped on that play... Once he gets trucking he's fast enough to hurt you some, and big enough to hit a cb.

According to his stats for last year he had 19 rushes for 56 yards total. Given his run on that one play in the spring game it looks like Justin has been studying Dobbs. Josh had 38 rushes for 189 total yards last year. Riley? zilch. :)

Dobbs had a really long run last year didnt he? I forget how long it was, but wasnt it like 70 yards or something crazy like that?

SN: I hate that sacks are factored into QB rushing stats

It was against Kentucky, I believe. He outran their entire secondary for a TD with a brace on his foot. Really funny stuff.

One other note about that which may be important is that Butch has reminded us a number of times that we had the most rushing yards last year since 2004 but if you take away Justin & Joshua's rushing yards he'd have to say 2009. So there's that.

I want to know whats up with the 2 incompletions. Something I havent seen anyone talk about. Did he throw them away because he had nobody to throw to? Did anyone drop 1? Try to throw it to a spot where only the WR could get it?

Could he have gone 13/13?
