KNOXVILLE — The Tennessee football team just finished practice No. 2 at Haslam Field.

Full coverage of the Saturday session is on the way. But first, some updates:

* Minutes into the start of Saturday’s session, UT coach Butch Jones encouraged his players to “Take a bite out of the elephant.” Was it an Alabama barb? Maybe Jones will say when he meets the media.

* Jones paid special attention to his unproven offensive line during a portion of individual drills.

“You get to prove people wrong,” he barked into his microphone. “That should motivate you every day to come out here.”

*Charles Moseley was spotted on the far sideline of the field. The freshman defensive lineman recently returned to Knoxville after he broke his leg in a car accident this summer. Mosely wore a cast. A crutch was spotted nearby. The 6-foot-5, 374-pound defensive lineman is a likely redshirt candidate.

*Injury Updates: Two defensive lineman were attended to. A trainer put a sleeve around the left calf of Dewayne Hendrix. Danny O’Brien took a break to get his left ankle taped.

* UT’s second-string offensive line appears to consist of: Dontavius Blair (left tackle), Austin Sanders (left guard), Ray Raulerson (center), Marques Pair (right guard) and Brett Kendrick (right tackle).

* There may come a time when freshman defensive end Derek Barnett shifts inside to a tackle position, especially as his 6-foot-3, 267-pound frame grows. But Barnett joined the defensive end group for individual drills. Former linebacker Curt Maggitt joined the group, along with Dewayne Hendrix.

Already shifting into full team sessions midway through the practices, Justin Worley and Marlin Lane were the first skill players in the Vols' backfield while the receivers again remained the trio of Josh Malone, Marquez North and Von Pearson.

Tennessee continued extensive special teams, ball-security and fundamental drills with head coach Butch Jones stalking all areas of practice. Jones also wasn't the only one barking orders on the microphone, as receivers coach Zach Azzanni also bellowed instructions during one segment.

Interesting to note is that for the second consecutive day, Vols' coaches made players who dropped passes, punts or interceptions drop for 10 pushups each time. Players are told only, "You owe me 10!" During one segment of offensive skill work, all the Vols' players were required to drop the ground for pushups.

Jones did take time early to challenge a reserve offensive lineman, labeling him the Vols' first "energy vampire of camp."

"Look at him, he's got his fangs out," Jones barked, adding, "and you can write that!"

It was clear that position coaches were trying to set a tone early, particularly with younger players, challenging them in drills and talking to them about body language and demeanor.

Continue to get a little more giddy every day! These freshmen appear to have taken things seriously in the months leading up to showing up on campus. All of them pass the eye test easily. I'm extremely impressed with almost all of the linemen. Sawyers, Hendrix, Barnett, and Robertson look like they are in their 2nd or 3rd years in the program...very impressed! All of the skill position guys are impressive. Btw, shout out to Breakerboy...he said Evan Berry was the best athlete in this class...I just read someone say the exact same thing in one of the articles. :hi:

Guys, please read the guidelines on copy/pasting full articles.

Thanks for your cooperation.

A torn Achilles leaves zero doubt that you have it. It pops like a firecracker and rolls up the back of the leg.

Hopefully Cody has a partial.

The only reason I bring this up is the recovery time may be somewhat lengthier for a complete tear.

Yeah, there is a hollow spot at the bottom near the heel. I tore mine. Was by far not the worst injury I have had. But, it is long recovery if it is complete tear like you say.

Am I the only one noticing this? Seems like Worley is starting his throwing motion higher than he did last season.
