Let's play this all back after the season to see where everybody was compared to what actually happened. Maybe those of us that believe better days start this season will be proven wrong by the realists and pessimists.
I have been on record for months at 7-5 with a bowl win for 8-5. My reasoning? The team was one play from beating UGA, one play from beating Vandy, a bad decision on which QB to play against UF, and some really dumb play calling/over thinking at the OC level on offense - from going to a bowl game last season. With very little talent on D. With the only strength on the team being an O-line that was recruited for a totally different style of offense. On a team whose best player turned out to be a kicker/punter that everybody hated on before the season.
This season there have been significant losses in players at Mizzou and Vandy - two of our losses. That leaves UF to beat for a change. Ole Miss and GA will not be as good as most are predicting IMO. There are only two certain losses and two major underdog situations that will be really hard to win: OK, AL, SC, GA. So 3 OOC wins plus UK, Vandy, Mizzou, and Florida. If it goes bad for injuries we lose one between Mizzou and UF. If it goes better than expected UGA and Ole Miss are on the radar to beat.
Butch's rantings at this pointed are good for team. Boot camp. By the time the season rolls along they will be ready for live ammunition. He is not going to let the world know the strengths of the team before the season starts. He is much smarter than that.
