"Payne - Playing some second team corner after playing more nickel in the spring. He's looked fine. Future may be a nickel back, though.

Lewis - Nothing has caught our eye to date.
Vickers - He's quietly had a fine camp so far. Nothing great, but not poor. Coming along fine and some think he will help this team in the future and be apart of the rotation this fall.

Henderson - Still learning to play at this speed against the big guys. Quick guy off the edge, just learning to play with technique.
Miller - Still trying to learn to play lower and use his strength.

Williams - He will be in the defensive tackle rotation this fall. O'Brien had a good summer and passed him up.

Creamer - Long, strong and athletic. He's still learning to play linebacker after not really playing defense in high school but the future is bright.

Bullock - He has done fine. He and Medley are battling for the starting kicker spot.

Ellis - He's with the first team right now at tight end. He's the biggest tight end and usually is very consistent. He and Wolf will be the first two tight ends in my opinion.

Jenkins - He's stayed healthy and that's meant it's the first team he's really got to practice since he's been on campus and looks fine. Still needs to continue to grind it out and show he can make some plays.

Stubbs - Too early to tell anything there.

Kendrick - Needs to play tougher. Needs to grasp the offense better, too."

"It was not a good day for freshman offensive lineman Ray Raulerson, who had a couple of bad snaps and also was defeated in some individual drills."

Yep Ray needs some development, physically and mechanically. I think he could be a starter as a RS Jr similar to how Mack and Kyler waited.

I think I've seen Malone catch maybe 3 balls in all the videos, not that it means anything....just saying.

Coaches hoped Dobbs could be that guy but my opinion is that Dobbs is actually too smart and it makes him play slow. He thinks through everything and doesn't just play football.

That might sound strange but to me he is too methodical.

Hope he can be better next year or I hope the freshman can develop quickly.

.

That makes sense.

When guys have the brain power to process things lightning fast but can suffer from analysis paralysis, sometimes it takes a while to figure out the 'trick' they need to make the information work for their brain. It can be hard to find that key to make it all flow together.

That's why I think Dobbs could benefit from a season of backing up Worley and picking up light spot duty. Last year was not a good learning opportunity for him, IMO. Team was broken down and insanely limited at WR when he was getting his starts. It looked like survival more than anything.

I think he could advance to a slightly above average SEC QB in his 3rd/4th years if he can get sorted out. Granted, a B-/C+ QB isn't taking you to Atlanta on his own, but good things can happen if they're surrounded by quality players.
