@GrantRamey: Tennessee scored 244 points in 2011, 434 in 2012 and 286 in 2013 ... and had the same record (5-7) all three seasons. #Sal

Lol don't even know what to say

Pretty sure it's a TSSAA rule.

I'm pretty sure it is too. I didn't mean any harm or insult with my post either.

It was just more of an observation. It seems some East Tennessee HS football programs are more likely to bend the rules a bit.

I think Blackman has just started a week late.

Volatil, Did you ever see Randall Cobb (Alcoa Qb) play? It's been at least 7 years but would you say JJ is a better suited Qb than he was?

I never got to see Cobb play.

Jennings is a beast. He is so athletic. I look for a big year from him this year.

I say in 2011 and 2013 there were some legitimate reasons we struggled. There was no excuse for 2012. What a wasted opportunity, but at least it brought us CBJ.

I wasn't insulted. Maryville has to travel to Middle Tennessee this year in the playoffs.

I actually haven't heard that...but rest assured that the occasional 'sack is still applied to things here and there. Especially if they pass out downstairs with their shoes on...

Shmeckling has existed for a LONG time in Eta Gamma history. You should bring the terminology back, bro! It usually ends in an RF for both involved parties, but well worth the pictures and entertainment. NEVER pass out downstairs! LOL IN HOC

5. Tennessee: Tennessee coaches are confident that a handful of the fourteen mid-year enrollees are capable of not only playing, but playing well right away in 2014. The Vols will be one of the youngest teams in the country, so it was critical to get the spring experience under the belt for fourteen freshmen. I thought the Vols might be in play for a transfer quarterback during the off-season, but quarterback Justin Worley turned some heads at the Manning Passing Academy last week. At the least, Worley looked much stronger, more confident, and throw the ball with better velocity than a year ago. Tennessee may be another year away, but it’s great to see that Vols fans are totally behind Butch Jones and his staff.

Probably preseason enthusiasm getting the best of me, but there's a nice, positive buzz about the upcoming season building. Not saying we will shock the world, but we could surprise on the upside this year for once.

It is hard to not be optimistic about improvement for the upcoming season, but I have learned that you really only start knowing what we've got when the pads start popping in the first game of the season. Having said that, if the lines are at least mediocre, then we could be looking at a winning season for a change.

Can't say much on JJ because I've never watched him play football live, but Randall Cobb was phenomenal.

I played against Cobb at Alcoa his Senior season in a full-contact scrimmage in 2005. I was just a freshmen that year, but Cobb was unbelievably athletic. He made it look easy out there.

It only helped that he was surrounded by Dustin Lindsey, Kyrus Lanxter, Brandon Warren, Rae Sykes, and others on that team. I can't remember if Chris Shiverdecker had already transferred from Jefferson County and joined the team yet at that point or not. Either way, that team was loaded. And we played them fair too. We gave them everything they wanted.

Sigh. First year without football coming up for me. Getting really tough with fall quickly approaching. Problems of a has-been. I need some UT football to start ASAP to ease my mind.

Does anyone remember that butch quote? Something like.. This staff will attack recruiting with a velocity and intensity that will not go unnoticed... Or something similar

I use it in my Sig:

The velocity and intensity at which we will attack recruiting will be noticed." - Butch

It's not just Blackman. All schools start in helmets tomorrow here.

That's kind of surprising. You would think all of those big-time Rutherford county programs would want to get on the field as soon as possible. Anyways, I'm excited to see JJ and crew on ESPN.
