I wonder what Dobbs 40 time is. He seems pretty quick to me, but he wasn't touted as a burner coming out of high school. He looks 1,000 times faster than Worley, though.

Also, Dobbs sheds tackles pretty well. If he packs on another 10 pounds of muscle before next season, he could be a beast running the ball.

Fast and noticeably faster than last year despite being 25 lbs heavier. I think with Dobbs it's more his ability to cut and turn up the speed instantly, stop, turn it back on etc. -- his kind of speed and agility reminds me more of a what you see in a fast basketball player (PG) than a football player since on the basketball court it's always short burst, stop, turn, boom turn it on again, now charge. Also in basketball you're more apt to find yourself in a situation that a QB faces - you're standing there with the ball in your hands and the opponent charges, a bball player times that properly and let's the defender get close enough then uses their speed to burn the defender. If you've got good timing and good speed the defender blows past you so fast they can't recover as you blow by them full speed.

I thought he did a great job of breaking tackles too. It felt like on one of his long runs that Bama had him contained for about a 2 yard run, and he just high stepped out of it and was off to the races.

He's much more powerful and decisive than he was last year. Will be interested to see how he responds now that a defense is preparing for him. But man. He's perfect for this system. Butch needs a QB that can make really fast and positive decisions, while also not over-thinking everything. Worley showed flashes of it, but he thinks too much and can't run. Dobbs balls out and you just know that he understands the playbook as good as anybody on the team. He looked like a leader and the alpha we've been looking for. I'm super pro Dobbs from here on out.

And we will get flagged for it because that's our luck.

They will call an unsportsmanlike penalty on the bench.

Edit: I'll guess that Steve Shaw has already given orders to flag the bench if Tennessee tries the late player trick like Bammer did to us.

I just hope people don't put unrealistic expectations on Dobbs from here on out & expect him to just put up insane numbers every week.

The first time he starts struggling, our fans will be calling for Worley to go back in the game.

I agree. I've been pro-Dobbs from the beginning based on his potential and the flashes I saw last year and so was delighted to see him play the way he did but even I didn't expect this big of a change in him yet and against Alabama. His speed was better, his instincts were better, confidence sky high, and about everything you could want from a QB who hadn't seen a single snap all year and who was sent in two scores down and much more was on full display. And while Bama may not be ranked number 1 right now, the Bama defense is 5th in total D whereas OM is 8th.

Dobbs looked like an upperclassman out there he certainly didn't look like a true sophomore that hadn't played all year. People from other teams were shocked when I told them he hadn't played all year.

I'm trying to keep level headed about it especially for this season with the faults on the line and other issues on offense but if he keeps playing the way he did - he's gonna be better than we ever expected and we have two more years of him after this one!

I expect Dobbs to put up an average of 275 yards total offense by himself for the last 4 games. Something like 75 yards rushing and 200 yards passing.

Too late. This our fanbase - we're talking about. But keep in mind, one of the reasons I stopped posting so much in the FF forum is that I got tired of explaining Dobbs' stats and how they were nearly identical to Worley's and the fact that he was true frosh playing top ranked opponents, the injury to North and to Dobbs and all of that stuff over and over again.

Now the same board that was pro-Worley/pro-Riley/pro-anyone-but-Dobbs is crowning him king and placing those expectations on him. He can of course disappoint them but the point is our fanbase is fickle enough to where he can win them right back - Worley and Dobbs have both done that after being blasted by our fans and even Peterman gotta a little bit of love back from fans as a backup.

Now the rest of us though - we gotta keep our heads on straight about what this team's facing. :)

^^^^This! Dobbs is not going to look like an All-American out there. Fortunately we don't need an All-American to win these next 4. I anticipate Dobbs will struggle some. I just hope he doesn't make the catastrophic errors that we saw against UGA and UF.

Dobbs will have some real bad plays, it's just going to happen with him still being inexperienced. Hopefully it wont make us lose a game. But rather now than next season.

Just like the fumble in the Bama game.

Lol I'd agree with that. I can't tell when he's happy, sad, or pissed off because he says the same thing in every presser/media session.

That's why the coach speak doesn't bother me. I really can't understand why it gets to some people. I realize it's annoying, but just run it through the twitter/VQ filter and pick out the important bits (injuries, etc).

He turns into Butch-Bot 4000 during almost any media availability, and I can't say I blame him.

With all the stuff a HC has going on, switching my brain off and spouting bland coach speak during some mindless press conference with some of the droolers that populate the TN media sounds like a pretty good option.

Agreed. I also feel like sports media is way, way too oversaturated at this point. The number of reporters interviewing players after a random Tuesday practice is mind boggling sometimes. Then they all write the same articles.

Butch bot 4000..I laughed.

But that's the thing, there's nothing "bland" about it Lol.

Reporter: Butch how do you think Jalen Hurd ran the ball Saturday?

Butch: Jalen Hurd prides himself on being the golden standard of what is an exceptionally storied position at the University of Tennessee. As long as he continues to empty the bucket during practice & stay within the process, Jalen's limitations are nonexistent.

Maybe bland wasn't the best word.

Regardless, I get a kick out of reading the quotes and thinking-

Peterman puts his arm really far back when he throws. He has a very slow release because of it. Anyone else notice that?

Yeah...a slingshot delivery...and there's something weird that happens to his wrist on the follow through sometimes.
