70 yard bomb to Malone on the first play of the game
6 yards per attempt passing
115th in the country
227 yards passing per game
62 in country
Their defense is bad. I think they realize Hurd and Dobbs have proven they can run when they have lanes, but we haven't proven we can pass downfield consistently against anyone, not even the scrubs. We've had our good moments passing sometimes, but there's no doubt Hurd can run successfully against a bad defense.
The obvious topic around Tennessee football has been quarterback Josh Dobbs. Dobbs gave the Vols a big spark on Saturday and Tennessee is hoping for the same Saturday night. While many fans have been head over heels about Dobbs' play, head coach Butch Jones has done all he can to temper expectations pointing out some of Dobbs' mistakes and speaking routinely about the need to make routine plays. Jones even kept Dobbs off-limits from the media this week as well. Aside from Dobbs speaking post-game after the Alabama game, no quarterback has been made available to media requests since leaving Oxford, Miss.
Nonetheless, Dobbs should start Saturday night in Columbia, S.C. In fact, we don't expect Worley to be dressed to play on the sideline Saturday night. Dobbs has added an element of confidence and trust to the practice field this week. That's not a knock on either of the other two quarterbacks; there's a reason that Justin Worley was voted a captain last week even though he was out of the game, and Nathan Peterman also serves on the players' staff. Peterman is expected to be second on the Vols' game-day depth chart. He should come in during the 3rd or 4th series.
Dobbs and the other quarterbacks were in Mike Bajakian's office by noonish on Sunday, as they are every week, to go over film and discuss the group's thoughts. But Dobbs as well-chronicled is roommates with Marquez North. They go to church together, hang out together, play video games together along with Josh Malone.
Jones has continued to talk all week about Justin Worley throwing some and needing velocity, etc. The fact is Worley hasn't thrown any of note this week, though we're told he did attempt a few left-handed tosses. Worley faces an extreme uphill battle, an unlikely one, to ever play again for the Vols.
Tennessee will not have Coleman Thomas available this weekend. He is expected to be back for the final three games. Thomas did practice on Wednesday, but the ankle isn't healthy enough and at time of this posting, he wasn't expected to travel with the team.
Also not traveling with the team is freshman defensive tackle Michael Sawyers. The former four-star prospect from Nashville's Ensworth School, among the Vols' late and prized additions to their 2014 signing class, was not on the practice field midweek and is having to work on some things off the field to rejoin the team in a full capacity.
Devrin Young won't travel again, nor will tight end Joe Stocstill. There had been some questions about the health of Chris Weatherd, but the Vols' junior college linebacker was expected to travel with the team as of Thursdayafternoon.
UK won't win another game, UL is good.
Might beat Mizzou
Couple notes from the War Room per VQ...
-Michael Sawyers will not travel. He didn't practice midweek. And he needs to work on some things off the field to join the team in full capacity.
-Devrin Young and Joe Stocstill will not travel. Coleman Thomas will not be able to go this week. He isn't expected to travel. Chris Weatherd is a little banged up and there was some thought that he wouldn't travel. However, he's still expected to make the trip.
- Worley will not dress this week. He did attempt some left handed throws this week. He faces "an extreme uphill battle" to ever play again for the Vols this season.
- They had a long story in the War Room about how tight-knit Dobbs, North, and even Malone are. Dobbs and North are roommates. They go to church together and hang out together. Malone is with them a lot. They all 3 make good grades. Malone looks up to North for what he accomplished last year.
Hate to hear that Worley's career is over.
Would love to see him show out during Tennessee's pro day and get picked up as an undrafted FA somewhere and make a roster.

Good possibility he gets processed.
Are you serious, Clark? We are just now with the addition of our 2015 DT class getting SEC depth. The only reason I could see him getting processed is that he is not putting the effort in that is expected on the field, in the class, in the weight room, or a combo of those.
