Yea it's sad. It's a VN tradition to pick out a DB and talk about how awful they are. I bet Martin plays in the NFL just like his predecessor is in Coleman.

that's a good comparison actually. Martin, like Coleman, has all the tools in the world. The problem is they weren't developed here. The moment Coleman got real coaching he became a legit NFL DB. This is the first year in Martin's college career he has had high level coaching. I trust that if he gets a shot in the NFL then he could potentially have the same career path as Coleman because he is a prototype corner.

If we do get Gruden, how do you guys expect him to do? Do you expect him to not be able to teach and develop college athletes and fail? Or do you expect him to be a superstar coach and the next Pete Carrol?

Good point. Martinez sucked

I think it’s moving that way for sure now.

I get the feeling that Currie really wanted to be able to fire Butch— with him almost immediately getting an ok G5 job— and then introducing our new coach within 48 hours.

But, take it for what it’s worth. This is only a slightly educated guess as best.
I know some can’t stand the idea of not getting heir pound of flesh NOW, but honestly this is about as ideal of a situation as you can think of as an AD who’s gonna have to make a change.

You get to say you let the coach finish the season (which means more to coaches who may look at UT in the future).

Butch probably gets a job that cuts huge chunks out of the buyout.

A quick announcement of the new HC.

Still get th bowl money and experience for young players.

I can understand why Currie would want to give this a chance of coming to fruition. Not sure I’d do the same, but I get the logic.

lol I know you’ve got connections down there, but they aren’t a good team.

They’re a decent team, which is good for USCe historically.

They’ll be exposed once they play UGA and Clemson.
Are you really trying to nitpick the semantics between good and decent? I would say that’s the same thing but to each their own.

What if they go to Athens and lose 28-10 but Georgia has to pull away late? I would look at that and look at what Georgia’s done and come away thinking UGA=great team, SCjr=good team

I agree now on Clemson just because Roper vs veneables is such a mismatch. Carolina’s defense will probably give CU’s offense some trouble

We are in no position to call any other SEC team a bad team. Our program gives us nothing to work with.

He's easily been one of our best defensive guys and probably our second or 3rd best DB behind only Gaulden and maybe Warrior

Hats off to him turning it around. I think he has turned it around off the field as well if reports are true. It's a good story

Hopefully he gets a chance like Coleman did. Coleman has been great this year when givin the playing time

Nugget from Trey Wallace.

Mullen is an option UT can get if they want him. He doesn’t think Frost will be an option and will end up at UF.

So now we’re playing the “what if they keep it close?” game in regards to UGA? USCe isn’t gonna play that game too close. UGA’s defense might outscore USCe lol

I think USCe this year will finish with a record that’s better than the team itself. They’ll probably finish 8-4 and people will talk about how solid they are.

But they’ll be glossing over the fact that 2 of their wins (UT and Arky) had terrible teams with coaches who will be fired at season’s end, the fact that they lost to another team who’s HC will be fired (aTm) and who was starting a true freshman at QB, and couldn’t beat a decent UK team at home.

8-4 is a good record for USCe. But if you watch the team, they’re just decent. Maybe if they’d had Deebo all season that wouldn’t be the case. But they didn’t so it is.

It’s really pessimistic, but I think it doesn’t even matter now, if Frost goes to Florida

We probably win 1 game against FL, UGA, AL every two years if those opposing coaches remain in place, and maybe dominate the rest of our schedule. 9 win ceiling with hardly any quality wins is good enough for this administration.

“Look at all the success!”

Have fun

I honestly don't know what to expect from a ceiling standpoint. I think at the very least he'd win 8 or 9 a year simply because he'll be superior to most of the coaches he faces from an X's and O's standpoint. I also think he'd recruit at a high, high level.
