Everyone seems to think that our AD is just a stooge who does whatever Jim Haslam says. I don't think Currie is that stupid. Big Jim has a right to say whatever he thinks and give input to the AD. But he does not have the right to pick our next coach (nor do any of you posters). Currie's job is on the line and he will collect input from a variety of people to get the best coach available. The fact that he hasn't said anything doesn't mean he is not doing anything. These things happen through back channels. Also, why would someone take the advice of a family that bought the Cleveland Browns and haven't improved the team at all since they bought it?

We probably win 1 game against FL, UGA, AL every two years if those opposing coaches remain in place, and maybe dominate the rest of our schedule. 9 win ceiling with hardly any quality wins is good enough for this administration.

With a Mullen, Kirby and Frost led eastern division I think all three of those respective schools would be right there together most years. All would have elite talent, and good coaching. I'd rather have Frost than Mullen, but I'd still like where we'd be headed under Mullen.

If we’d fired Butch after UGA or USCe and the stuff with McElwain played out the same, does anybody think we’d really have had better odds to land Frost?


As much as I hate to say it, I don’t think so. Moving to UF from UCF just makes more sense for him on a lot of levels than coming to UT.

Kind of a similar deal as LSU and Herman last year. As soon as the Texas job came open, LSU’s chances were basically nixed.

Let’s do it the “Tennessee Way”, for a little extra salt in the wound. You guys are thinking too small...

We will quickly move down our coaching board as panic continues to settle in. Finally, we hire Mike Bobo, who we will have been told was “the top choice in this thorough inverstigative process.”

Surprisingly, he makes headway in recruiting, and through gritty performances and creative play calling, the rebuilding Vols scrap to an 8-5 season.

Meanwhile, in Athens, Kirby Smart receives a phone call from an NFL team, noticing his scant 4 losses over the previous two seasons. He decides it’s time to upgrade, and VN laughs and laughs and laughs.

Three seconds later, Mike Bobo’s phone rings, caller ID “UGA Athletic Dept.”. He thinks, “Gee... what is this about?” And picks up the phone.

Timing...no. But I do suspect that Florida wanted him and made a move because they didn't want him to come here.

It's what really sucks to me that Florida opened up. If it hadn't, I think Frost would have been Tennessee's to lose.

Bring us Mullen and call it a day. He's going to have to rebuild this mess anyway. At least he has a nucleus of talent. Maybe he can hold onto Gillespie and Warren. The rest of them need to be packing.

I’ve stated my opinion on Mullen ad nauseam, so I disagree but won’t hatch it out. Conjecture, but I think he would be 3rd best coach in the East and I expect results would play out that way

And Bobo leaves in January but so we have to quickly hire a coach.... We bring Dooley home

I hope we'll get to find out one way or the other. Because realistically speaking, if Frost goes to UF and Mullen stays put, we could be in for a world of hurt.

Anyone with VQ subscription hear that Gruden stayed at Haslam’s House when he went to that game? Buddy of mine said it was posted on VQ.

That doesn’t fit the narrative we get here

Which one? lol everybody knows that during Grumors season you’re just supposed to put faith in the grumors that most closely coincide with your own narrative!
