That's actually a lot more reasonable than a lot of the theories I've heard lol

I realize you're being sarcastic, but, tbh, that is at least as conceivable as 75% of everything else that's been thrown out there.

I thought the same thing about former players. JJ doesn’t fit into that though.

I was being 💯% sarcastic but I’d take Phil back before Booboo or Derpin.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but pretty sure Hubbs didn’t say that it was a text (let alone on a personal number), not that I necessarily even think that’s particularly meaningful. Hubbs is hearing enough to keep an open mind on Gruden (especially because it just so happens to be great for business!) but not enough to believe that it’s close to happening.

Maybe not.

I'm still eager to see what he says.

"I have not been able to confirm where Currie went after he was in Charlotte. Did he stay there? Did he take another flight? I haven't been able to track him down.

I don't have anyone telling me an official offer has been made."

Let's see how close I am.

I believe him when he said, as of yesterday, that Gruden had not talked to anyone "officially" about the opening.

I think that changed last night and I want to know if he does too.

It would depend on how you define "official".

Similar to Kress earlier, the information is behind current events on this with the media. More than normally, IMO. I think Currie wanted it that way.

I think they met last night. But I don't think for a second that was the first time they talked about this considering everything that has to be ironed out for it to even be considered.. I guess "official" is the key.

I would say that's pretty close. then followed by a nugget later this afternoon.

This has the feel of Hubbs jumping completely on, right before it goes public from UT.

Probably pretty close.

"Tennessee is the 12th best job in the SEC. The Vols are going to get D.J. Durkin and go 5-7 for the next decade, and they're going to like it."

Why do you say that?
I should clarify that by saying he'll be the one to break it nationally.

I think he's the best sports writer in the nation, and arguably one of the most trusted reporters by those in college football.

And He seems to have a pulse on this program like no other national media member.

Hubbs also clarified he's been told by many that it's a done deal and will happen. He just needs to see it.

You don't know JJ was coming back and I think it's very likely he doesn't without a big hire...fact is those are just opinions by you and I...not facts.

Hargis wasn't trolled last time and it's not a troll this time. Even Hubbs said as much in the update late last night... "There are definitely some around Gruden who think it's real possibility that he might take the Tennessee job. We don't think all of this is some kind of big troll job."

Hubbs and members of the local media are not going to give much credence on the Gruden stuff until it comes from Currie's mouth. They could get text from 100 people that they respect and they'll not report it until a statement comes from the UTAD. Not because they are being told not to but just because they are conservative. They don't want to get Hargised.
