This is the best thing I have read all day. Makes a lot of sense to me.
I think we're not considering LaMonte's role enough in all of this. He gets a cut of Gruden's salary. If Tennessee truly came at Gruden with an offer of $10+ million/year, LaMonte is going to push for that, probably at the expense of NFL offers. Especially if they aren't prime coaching opportunities...and I don't think there will be any in the league this offseason, as even the Colts, which were long rumored to be Gruden's landing spot, may be looking for a QB and are the worst team in the AFC South. Same thing with Tampa Bay depending on how this Winston thing plays out.
Gruden is already filthy rich, but that's a massive pay increase for a guy like LaMonte from a single client. And $10 million/year for a decade or so is like generational wealth. At that point you go from just being a really rich dude to being legitimately wealthy.
