Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLV

I really want to believe the Petersen talk, but if this is the case, why would a player on the team have this info?

Junior. So he's draft eligible. Currie wants to keep as many players as possible for the next coach. (25 limits looks to hurt us this year if many leave). So he "leaks" some name to the players to make them excited and want to come back

No he is not. Ask the Raiders, ask Tennessee, ask USC.

Yes, he is. If you can't see that Lane Kiffin is a good football coach I question your football IQ. I'm not talking about the intangibles and off the field issues. On the football field, he's one of the best.

If anyone would be unhappy with any of these, they need to take a lap.

yeah, you'd have to be on crack not to want one of those guys as your coach.

Gruden
Peterson
Patterson
Campbell
Frost

I'd take any of those and glad to hear that Currie is swinging for the fences and all on this list have been mentioned as our potential head coach.

Anyone on that list and lets ride. Time to get back to the top.

Makes sense to me. But doesn't line up with Hank's "500 cans of flex seal" comment.

When I see Chris Petersen makes $4.125 Million per year. He is 128-28. He has achieved all of this without the benefit of SEC athletes.

I like your point, but the gif is a just a little disturbing to me.

We always complained about how “leaky” and basically circus like our AD was. If there’s one thing Currie has done its brought 500 bottles of flex seal with him and went to town.

It's locked down. Soon, we'll see a photo of VQ interns going through the dumpster behind Andy Holt while Hubbs watches though the tinted glass of the getaway truck.

No one outside of Idaho, and probably most INSIDE of Idaho had ever heard of Boise State before Chris Petersen.

Soon thereafter, he is going undefeated, beating Oklahoma at their absolute prime, and one of Patterson's best TCU teams.

If you didn't catch that part about winning huge games against big teams and a very large winning % at a crap school, just go back and read that again 4 or 18 times.

84-8 at one point. Left there 92-12. Insane.

Urban Meyer is 70-8 at Ohio State.

Wallace said today on 1045 that we wouldn't talk to Peterson if we didn't think he had at least a little bit of interest. Still called it a long shot. Supposedly he's not crazy about the lack of exposure they get at Washington. If we're gonna throw that type of deal at Gruden, why would we not offer Peterson the same deal? I mean, he'd be better.

Petersen is probably the best candidate for the job.

I’m super skeptically about how much he’s really interested though. I just hope that whatever happens isn’t as public as Gundy using us for leverage in 2012 was.

He is great at offense. To me, he is not a leader. He is not a motivator. He is funny and can probably relate to the players. What about managing and hiring a staff? That is the second most important job he has after recruiting, and he seems good at that (recruiting). Other than O and his dad, how was his staff here and at USC? He seems to have the tools but it does not seem to translate into wins in the big places he has been.

Edit: Even if he were one of the best coaches available, why would we want him back here? He is partially responsible for the craphole we are in right now.

This. He's a football savant. The problem is that between his ego and his maturity level, he's a bomb looking for a good place to go off.

He could have stayed the course at Bama for a few years and totally rebuilt his reputation. He couldn't, and he didn't. He took a job at FAU. F-A-U. His ego and Saban's wouldn't fit in the same stadium, much less the same room.

Lane Kiffin is his own worst enemy, and I have my doubts if that will ever change. Shame to watch that level of talent never reach its' true potential.

Go Vols.

No point in doing that. If you float names and end up with Bobo they will still leave. Players have plenty of time to wait and then decide to leave for the draft with the coach most likely being hired in 2 weeks or so.

Edit: I can see the point though if they declare right away without waiting.

That's the best list going...not necessarily in order, but definitely the top 5.

Re Petersen: any concerns about (1) fitting in/enjoying the pressure cooker atmosphere of big time SEC football? He seems like a laid back guy, and the pressure in Seattle and Boise is worlds different than college football in the south and (2) recruiting? His classes at UDub aren’t exactly off the charts.
