I trust this year’s process. It sounds like we are going all out to get a new coach, throwing tens of millions at Gruden, calling Petersen and Patterson, and apparently even kicking the tires on Chip Kelly. If we wind up with Mullen, I trust that he is the best we could do. And he will be a darn good coach.

Coaching searches are a two way street. And it seems clear to me the UT job is not viewed nationally the way we would like it to be viewed. I have my views on why that is the case.

That's fine, but you have to leave room for the fact that others may have candidates that they prefer that UT could probably get. For instance, I prefer Schiano (greatly) over Mullen. And it's not because I have a lower opinion of UT.

That said, I'm cognizant that it's not my decision, and it's Currie on the line here. We'll see if he's up to the task.

Chip Kelly to decide between UCLA and UF in the coming days. - ESPN

Let’s hope he wants to be on the West Coast in LA.

Agreed. I wonder how his decision affects our search. Meaning, if he goes Gator are fewer coaches interested in our job because we are the only school that plays both Saban and Kelly every fall?

Give me your top three reasons for not wanting Mullen. I’m honestly surprised people have a low view of him so I’m curious.

Huh? It's not about any of that. It's that he's a grade A douchebag who took a massive **** on our program and constantly trolls UT on twitter. Anyone who wants him back has serious mental issues.

I'm just joking with you.

After Mulling (Mehling?) it over, I realize that the issues involved in bringing him back far outweigh any positives of having him here, for now.

I guarantee you though, a lot of people are going to have second thoughts if we hire a dud this time, and he goes to Ole Miss and starts winning championships. It's going to be worse than the Fulmer/Anti-Fulmer discussions around here.

If he goes to Ole Miss, they may truly get the death penalty. He is the opposite of what they need.

Also JAV confirmed that Gruden has become a member of Cherokee and is buying Haslam’s lake house.

Definitely changes things. Would have to get confident coach with balls of steel.

I agree, but if they took the gamble, and it paid off...High risk, high reward.

Put another way...Who else they gonna get right now, that would give them even a chance?
