It doesn't matter if it's not 1999 anymore.
UT has the tradition, the money, the fan base, the facilities and the recruiting base to easily become an elite program again.
Any one that doesn't think this job is top 15 anymore can get the **** out. It's not debateable. You are wrong.
i don't think people fully understand
1) how unappealing this job is and
2) how unusual it is to hire a "proven" coach in the first place.
People see gruden's name and assume that because a guy like that is interested that it logically means other coaches of similar prestige should be easy to get. But the truth is there's nothing about this job that makes it appealing to gruden other than he has personal ties to the program. If those weren't there we'd be just like ucla to him. A good school but not anything he'd ever look at.
Maybe we'll throw a ton of money at someone and they'll leave their good power 5 job. Hopefully we can. But to say we have to hit this hire out of the park and hire a top 5 coach seems unrealistic. The fact we feel too good for dan mullen is comical.
