Please stop using recruiting rankings especially with QBs. That is more about exposure than anything. There are countless examples of “nobodies” that made it to the nfl and elite 11 guys who didn’t even do anything in college.

Obviously it’s not flawless, but it’s pretty dumb to just ignore recruiting rankings.

Ranked by talent, coaches develop them at different rates. Fitz has had the luxury of being coached by Mullen for 3 years. He’s made him a very good college QB.

You don’t think he could get talent here?

You can recruit or you can’t. He’s had 8 recruiting classes...two full cycles. That should have been enough time to establish connections and relationships that bypass location. You don’t expect 5 stars, but four stars can be sold to play for a coach of his quality...development being the pitch. He hasn’t been able to communicate that to enough impact recruits to lend confidence that it would translate better in Knoxville. We’ve had two #15 level classes the last two...want that as our standard?

As jsp posted earlier, they were recruiting mid 40 level classes before he got there and they are now mid 20s. That’s a significant improvement that we can’t just brush off.

They’ve been right around 22 the last 3 years. I think in Knoxville he could recruit significantly better do you? I don’t think it’s crazy talk that he could bring in top 10-12 classes consistently and develop them.

Shoot up 10-12 spots? Agree to disagree.
