Just bc you’re in a P5 doesn’t translate to recruiting well. If that’s the case than UVA, Miss St, Boston College, Washington state, and Iowa State should all be bringing in elite recruits.

Most of those programs have recent signature wins. Where’s Mullen’s. And how many of those other programs have someone in their NINTH season?

Unbelievable to me how people think we're too good for Dan Mullen. Like we're too good to get a quality SEC football coach in here who would just about guarantee us 8-11 wins year in and year out.

Big difference between guaranteeing 8 wins and 11. I don't think Mullen is anywhere close to even regularly getting to the top end of that range.

High horse? Lmao. I just think you guys are being ridiculous saying Mullen isn’t a good coach. He consistently wins at the most difficult job in the SEC. Tennessee is one of the easier jobs in the SEC. Give Mullen our resources and access to talent and he would win big imo.

I’ve never said he wasn’t a good coach...quite the opposite. Most I’ve read respect his COACHING. It’s the program elevation where he falls short. We’ll compete hard! And little else.

You really don't think he's elevated the Mississippi State Program? Really? Smh.

Can’t improve that SEC program why give him another?

There's such a thing as a ceiling at a school. He's reached it there IMO. And I'd say he has improved that program. He has a chance to win 9 games for the 5th time there I believe. Something MSU had only done a handful of times in program history before he got there. First number one ranking in school history as well in his tenure. If that's not improving a program I don't know what is.

blah, I'd rather have Phil Fulmer, Cutcliffe or Les Miles more than some of these guys like Brohm..

Surely we can do better than this.

What do you mean by timing? His regular season is over Saturday, isn't it?

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean it about Petersen, specifically. I just meant that it takes time to interview coaches and sometimes they want to weigh other options before deciding. We've moved recruit visits back, so they're hoping to have a new HC in place next week. That's an aggressive timeline.

Mullen is a proven winning college coach. You know who's not? The white whale Jon Gruden. I'll take Petersen, Patterson, and Mullen all day long. Jon Gruden is at the bottom of my list of unproven coaches.

Sounds like we’re about to get another bloop single to set up a double play.

Meanwhile, everybody over here *****ing about how we’re too good for an RBI double and have to have a homerun.

I'm just hoping they don't rush things just because of this early signing day. They should take their time if it means they'll get a quality coach in the end. We rushed a hire in 2010 because of recruiting and got Dooley.

Ima rank my candidates because I'm comfortably numb...

We don't know
The media doesn't know
The "insiders" don't know
No one knows
No Mullen

In that order...

Answer- when they are announced at the podium

That's the problem. People who think Mullen isn't good enough aren't looking at the names below him. It's a seller's market for coaches. We need to lock someone in quickly.

If you had to guess who do you think it is going to be

All well and good, but there is variance in who's above and who's below, especially with the limited info we have. I'd assume Mullen is above Frost and well above Schiano on a lot of lists. Not mine.

Can already see it

Mullen goes to FL

We end up with a Schiano

Mullen kicks out azz for another 3 years and everyone goes dang we should have hired Mullen like they say about Franklin now

Peterson, Patterson and then we part ways. Gruden is instant credibility. His name sells it. His hire would validate Currie and the whole program. Mullen wins some loses some...proven that he does both. :boredom:
