Ron you better have the mother of all boom gifs ready, like a triple twist high dive onto a frozen lake with a quadruple jump ice skater and a perfect landing with an Evel Kneval jump across the grand canyon

I’m having to paint the guest room at my house this weekend and can only check in every little bit until the game. I came back to see 4 pages and hoping to see some type of news. Still nothing. Currie is a ninja.

I don't think Tennessee would take that risk. You also can't really conclusively DEBUNK the rumor. It will follow him forever, basically.

I don't either. I'm just saying that it's incredibly unfair to paint Schiano as a pedo-protector based on third hand info. coming from a source that was 2 yrs old when he claims it happened.

I know. It sucks for him. Everyone involved with that situation is tainted in some way. Opposing coaches would jump all over it, especially when he was just starting out and trying to establish recruiting relationships in high schools in the South. He would have a very tough road.

Currie ain’t let anything out but the guys at football scoop got the info 🙄

Sources tell FootballScoop Tennessee AD John Currie has been working the phones and putting in the hours expected of a UT AD during a coaching search. This search has been referred to as “thorough” by more than one person in the profession to FootballScoop.

Before we get into the real stuff, we are reminded in accordance with Tennessee state law, in connection with any Tennessee coaching search we are required to mention Jon Gruden’s name somewhere prominently in the article. Jon Gruden was never a candidate for this job. That is all.

Now, for the update. While we have heard from sources throughout the week that Currie feels comfortable with Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano if he needs to go there, the buzz in the profession the past 24 hours has been that Mike Leach seems to have a very good shot at being offered the position.

The expectation from those we’ve spoken with is that Leach would accept the position if offered. We can further add that sources tell FootballScoop Washington State officials have had internal discussions about their plans should Leach move on (in addition to Tennessee, Leach could be wind up being a target at other SEC schools as well). In the event they need to make a hire, sources tell FootballScoop Washington State would move without hesitation to promote defensive coordinator Alex Grinch to head coach.

Agreed. Ultimately it falls on a very real institutional failure and the culture the US has had surrounding pedos. In years past, we as a people (not individuals) have been so terrified of it and what it could mean that we kept silent. It's a good thing that times have changed and people are no longer so weirded out that they say nothing.

That said, it's a shame that anyone who ever coached there gets a sideways glance. Some knew and some didn't. We'll never know the whole truth because so much fear and shame surrounds it all.

All we know for sure is that Sandusky is a POS and Paterno did nothing to stop him.

I’ve always assumed football scoop is calling around to their contacts at various schools to see who Currie is reaching out to. It’s a helpful data point in my opinion.

Lol true.

But if Mullen is the floor then that's pretty damn good still

I'd be okay with Mullen. I'd follow the program at about the same level as I did this past offseason. Which was a big step back from previous years, but not total disinterest.

I would love to have Leach just for his press conferences. Can’t we just hire Leach to be the PR point person and press conference extraordinaire for whoever ultimately gets the job? :) lol

You should write his material for the introductory PC!

He's not who is top of my wish list but does provide a significant upgrade over the former coach. And with just a slight upgrade we would have been in ATL a couple seasons playing for sec championship.

He's young and has SEC experience and recruiting the south so we could do a lot worse imo

Mullen does the co-OC thing. His OL coach is probably pretty good, but I'd like to see him offer one of those spots to Pittman and offer him a huge raise. Would shore up our OL immediately and also handicap an East rival in the process.

If Currie wanted us to be appreciative of Mullen, we should be looking at top candidates Dave Clawson, Scott Satterfield, and Mike Bobo right now.
