I mean hes 2-2 vs georgia and florida at MSU. I doubt he gets better players and facilities and forgets how to beat them all of a sudden. He also rocked LSU and A&M this year. Whens the last time UT beat a west team, let alone whipped they azz? Guy can coach, anyone who thinks he cant is unrealistic and ignorant. Is he the top option in the nation? No. But even with florida being a better job than us they likely arent getting their top two choices in Kelly or Frost either. It is what it is.

Solid post man. Hope all is well with you and your family.

Here's more from Babyvol:

There’s no presser scheduled for tomorrow. Camera crews for the coach’s show have been told to keep everything on site in anticipation of an early week press conference. The picture guy still says he’s invited to an event tomorrow at Neyland. Just guessing they could be doing pictures and meet and greet with high level boosters. I’m not claiming I have all the info, just want to pass along what I hear.

I know some of you think he's a troll. If you don't want me to bring it over I can definitely keep it for personal consumption.

All of this fits with what people said about Currie. Big ego, arrogant, does things his own way.

Of course, there are practical reasons to conduct a coaching search in complete secrecy. But I think he's doing it A) because he can and B) to prove a point. He wants to look like the smartest guy in the room, especially compared to other ADs who seem to bungle searches with shocking regularity. But that only works if the hire is epic.

Good point. As good as he was, Fulmer didn't continuously build the program. It started the slide, and with other programs hiring better coaches, we got passed.

True. Built til he stopped. Start coasting and you go backwards. Now we have people advocating starting a tenure with that approach.

It’s all one big misinformation campaign

Certainly seems that way. But why is that necessary? Everyone knew UCLA wanted Chip and they went out and got their guy. Certainly is more entertaining this way but I wish we could operate with a little more simplicity and clarity sometimes.

LWS in Petersen thread:

30 minutes ago had a former Vol tell me it was Mullen.

I checked with a couple sources and JC and Mullen still haven't met according to them..
