If there are no leaks by tonight--i.e., a team meeting at MSU/Iowa State--then I think the hire won't happen until next weekend (SECCG) or next Monday/Tuesday. That would mean it's either Gruden or a coach with a conference championship game on deck.

We'll be able to rule out Mullen and Campbell within a matter of hours, IMO. And I just don't buy that Schiano is a real candidate whatsoever.

Would leave Frost, Gruden, and Norvell. Or a total surprise candidate.

At this point Frost would be quite the coup.

I think I could get reasonably excited about that. Not Petersen level euphoria, but reasonably optimistic.

If it's Gruden, why wait?

I dunno. I think there are a few reasons but they all seem flimsy. However, it all goes back to appeasing Gruden. He's Mr. FFCA. "Real sensitive to the coaches out there." Presumably also means the players. Waiting until next Tuesday allows him to put a ton of distance between Butch's firing and even the end of our regular season and him getting announced. Also allows him to leave MNF with only three shows left.
