Yeah I'll take a guy who's 128-28 with 5 conference championships and a playoff birth at Washington over a guy who's never coached college football and hasn't coached football at all in ten years. Petersen > Gruden. Really isn't that close for me.

My list is:

1. Gruden
2. Petersen
3. Patterson
4. Campbell or Frost

Any of the first 3 would be homeruns IMO. Campbell or Frost are decent “other options” with really high potential.

Anybody else outside of this list, including Mullen, would be underwhelming.

If the announcement is Sunday I have a hard time believing it will be Gruden.

Why? College staffs would be available for him the announce assistants. No reason to wait unless it was for a Tuesday after MNF. If nothing from Gruden or anyone wise by wed of next wk then it's frosty assuming he wins today

They are close. 1 and 2 on the want list.

So Ole Miss beat Mississippi State with WRs that were both in-state and Mullen couldn't get one of them right? Brown is from Starkville too and that's a problem for me. How well does he really recuit? Herman got Ed Oliver to stay at home in Houston over Power 5 schools. Mullen can't even get one high profile guy to come there after his longevity with that program.

What would you think of Petersen?

Don’t forget he was also fired from that job over 10 years ago for.. wait for it.. being a mediocre coach 🙈

Averaged 7.5 wins a year his last 6 seasons

Petersen would be the best of both worlds. Better hire than Gruden, and the Boro's, beavers, and DTO's of the world fail yet again.

MNF is the wild card here. I have heard reasons on why it can or can’t work for a Sunday announcement. I just think if it’s Gruden he makes the announcement on MNF that this is his last season or even last show, then UT press conference on Tuesday for his formal announcement as the HC of UT.

If we announce Sunday it’s someone else, JMO.
