I was outraged when it happened. Got ripped on this board relentlessly.
We all should have been pissed at that contract. Slap in our faces after we lived thru the Hamilton era.
If you're Currie you do what the damn Haslams tell you. Which is go cheap or else.
I have not seen anything credible that confirms we met with Dan Mullen or offered him the job.
Pretty clear that Schiano was always the guy and once Mullen was off the board he thought he could run up there and hammer it through to give the impression we got our #2.
Agree.
Hey InVol, I respect your opinion.
I just posted something in the FF about the Haslams.
Would like your thoughts, if you dont mind venturing over there.
All of us.
Higher ticket and concessions prices, if necessary.
Big donors that have the wherewithal to dig deeper.
Fund raising campaigns to offset the loss instead of the proposed Neyland renovations.
Bake sales? Car washes? Lol.
Haslam money is not the only money.
To make sure everyone is understanding how dumb this is....
He has a $900k salary. Incentives to make up to $1.2m
His buyout is $1.2m per year for the full term.
If he works his tail off for the next 4.5 years and does great he MIGHT make $5m over that time.
If we fire him today he makes $6m guaranteed and doesnt have to lift a finger.
- Parody HubbsCurrie's car is in the parking lot today. It's covered in pigeon poop, so I'm not sure it's been moved in a while. I think he's probably making some calls. I think some mid-road C-USA coaches will get a call. Whatever pile of man UNLV has out there now-a-days will probably get a look too. I haven't been able to confirm much, but we are chasing. One name I've heard a lot is Greg Schiano out at OSU, but you all pretty much destroyed that like a paper bag toilet after thanksgiving dinner, so I'm a bit out of touch at the moment.
Just read some of Beavers tweets. I think he is someone in the know, but the info he laid out in the Gruden thread many weeks ago wasnt about an agenda to hire Gruden. I think it was an agenda to overthrow the power of the Haslams. The plan was to hype Gruden and make everyone think he was a lock to coach, but he and whoever is involved knew Haslam would torpedo it just like in 2012. When Haslam torpedoed it by going behind everyones backs to make his own hire, then Volnations voice started to be heard, and the backlash became too much. This fully exposed the Haslams. Why would he all of a sudden make his twitter public, when he knows he may be lashed out at because of the Gruden stuff? He wants to be heard more and more, and he has media members now following him to get his message out farther abroad. He is striking while the iron is hot and putting on more steam to try to take down the Haslams. Go read his tweets in the last 24 hours. I hope this is whats happening, because its our only chance to rid this university of the Haslams.
Agreed. The Haslams and Currie had this plan all along. I'm going to guess it may have even been a contingency to getting the AD job. "What coaches do you have good relationships with in case a change needs to be made?"
Now listen, I don't think Gruden was ever interested on his end nor do I think he could have been persuaded, however, it's the dumbest thing in the world to push his name with the low-level boosters as it appears the Haslams did. Remember all that talk about "we're all on the same page now."? I don't think that was a coincidence. They let everyone think they were "special" and "listened to" while they had Greg Schiano in their backpocket the whole time.
Wish AV would come out with some specifics on this whole mess. The boosters need to make this all public. Leave no doubt in any Tennesse fan's minds that the Haslam's are running the show, and they're running it into the ground.
The Haslam reputation is more important to them than their money. If you really ratchet up the negativity on them, I think you'll see them back off.

Buddy, they're being prosecuted for defrauding truck drivers and that hasn't stopped them. They don't care.
