Surely that's not what's disqualifying him, is it?

There is something else out there about Norvell that I will not share because it's just speculation. Spoke with a former Memphis player who confirmed it's out there. It's apparent though that it's not effecting his coaching ability.

I said it yesterday. They publicized the offer knowing he would turn it down. That way they could say "We tried our hail mary like fans wanted and it didnt work".

If they had been serious about hiring him or anybody worth 7 to 8 mil, why didnt they start there from the beginning.

Yep. They went after the most obvious "I'm going to play you for a raise" candidate out there.

He's gona sleep on It? Oh sh*t I bet Currie has figured out that he has to sneak this one in. Probably a stuffed pair of PJ's in his bed and Doeren is in knoxville.

Please reject us Dave. Oh please

I’ve already written several Raleigh media outlets stating how much we don’t want Doeren.
If you can, do the same.
Text, email, call any media outlets in that area.
We can only hope that Doeren gets the message he’s not wanted here and he turns down the Currie/Haslam offer.

Before the search everyone was saying UT had the cash and was willing to spend it.

I think that was the message sold to boosters by our AD. But in Haslam fashion in the end he just does what he was always gonna do. Find his guy and ram him thru.

Never mind Whether you think the Candidate Is the right choose or now ... but once people see you offer Gundy 7mil/per... why go much if at all lower than that for the next guy. Seems like it would be an insult to the best candidate. “Oh so you offer Gundy 7 but me only 4?”

It was all a facade.

I am not an expert in that area of law, but I am fairly sure that you can't file a defamation lawsuit against someone who testifies in a court of law. That is privileged speech because the courts don't want to prohibit someone from wanting to tell the truth. Skeet should probably research those things before making those claims.

Probably true, but who had incentive to lie? What would have happened to Schiano if he admitted that he reported the incident? What would have happened to Bradley if he said Schiano did report the incident to him? What possible incentive would McQuerry have to lie about it? That's why you cannot have Schiano as the face of your football program. Recruiting: "Mom, here's the testimony of McQuerry implicating Schiano in a child molestation case. Do you want your son playing for him?" Due diligence would have made that evident to anybody with half a brain. There was no due diligence because Currie was told by Haslam that he had been vetted by the Browns (but that was before the release of the Sandusky court documents).

They know they have a market value. Gundy has accomplished much more than this guys has or probably ever will.

From VQ...

This from a guy who has said he works in department or use to and gets info. Unsure really.

I know I’m not really the guy people want to hear from on here, but I want to try to make something clear. Nothing you’re seeing happen is the fault of the “fans who were too extreme.” I work in a very, very, very chaotic place, our office is day-in and day-out the most stressful place I’ve ever been in. It’s not because of the demands of the job, but because we never know when the bottom is going to fall out of this thing. Well folks, the bottom fell out tonight.

The Department has been teetering on the bring of losing Faith in our leadership since July when Currie decided to lead this push for stadium renovations during a failure of a season. We had no plan, we just had a dolt in charge who wanted to continue to be the “builder,” regardless of how the season played out. When Currie left for the Bahamas, he lost the Athletic Department staff.

I said earlier, this thing is going to get worse before it gets better. Tonight we’re hiring Dave Doeren as our head football coach. This is not the “worse.” There will be more clarity, more leaks out from within the program, and more insight into just how backwards the last decade has been for us on Lake Loudon.
When the dust clears from this, if you are persistent, we can get our program back, but I can’t stress enough how serious of an impact you are going to have to make. That would start by calling tomorrow morning, whether it be your individual reps or the main line at 656-1200 to cancel your season tickets if you are a ticket holder.

Seems like the narrative unfolding now is that even prominent, tier 1 boosters were promised that their money would go towards a Gruden-caliber coach (if not Gruden himself).

But the plan was to hire Schiano all along.

I don't understand how the Haslams and Currie thought that was going to work. Maybe they have screwed over other millionaire boosters before and gotten away with it and thought they could do it again.

Why go to lower candidates at all if you're offering $7 mil? Why go to Schiano first and THEN Gundy? The list is all out of order. None of it makes sense.

Yup. Tomorrow, we will offer Saban 7 million via fax- no calls or meetings necessary- then offer 60 grand and a Pilot rebate card to Joe Lee Dunn.

They absolutely can not wait til 12/5.

Vols will take $1m out of John Currie’s ass by then.

6 days. He’s had since Georgia IMO.

I know early signing period and all but we have got to sacrifice this class for our long term future. Doug Matthews said today he’s spoken with several people who claim at least 90% of this class will hold together including both QBs.

In the meantime if Morris is out of play at A&M we roll with him.

Just my opinion

Agree, but has (1) Brohm been offered a contract (2) what was his decision. I still haven't seen anything where he said "no." Man I wish we would make him a $5 mil offer and start recruiting. Although, Brohm has a pedigree to jump to NFL one day.

So did someone just to decide screw Jimmy H today. Normally the guy derided for being overly cautious and late to a story was given a chance to break the story and then pull the rug out from under him. That was a hit job.

I'm still wondering if we are holding out for Brohm's buyout..

I hope so.
