Needed a break from writing my research paper so I decided to watch Hurd's tape from last year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h8-jq3odlg

Three things:

1. He is an absolute physical freak. And now that he's up to 235 he's just going to be that much more physical.

2. I am beyond excited to see what he can do with Kamara in the backfield and the O-line having another year under their belt. We've talked about having 'thunder and lightening' backs in the past but this year we really will have a two-headed monster in the backfield.

3. I'm really looking forward to Deboard's play calling. I had done such a good job of repressing some of the repeated and predictable play calling from last year until I kept seeing the exact same plays over and over again.

Spin move at 7:00 is the difference in a 5-7 team and a 7-6 team.

Not bad

Could be. But Barnett not getting called for unnecessary roughness on his late game sack sure helped too.

I almost feel like if Thompson hadn't of tried to sell it so hard with that flail they might of called it. Thompson made it look like a flop when it actually wasn't.

I don't disagree with anything you said. I just don't know that he is worth the risk. And I say that understanding the full weight of what we are speaking about which is a kid's future.

Jones is the guy that can answer that given that he knows the details of what did and didn't happen and that he probably understands what the kid has done to prove he is reformed. The support for Paulk is understandable and I hope the kid is successful in life but the criticism would be monumental if the kid is given a second chance and screws up. I'm sure Saban thought Jonathan Taylor was reformed as well. I'm glad as hell that I do not have to make that judgment with a kid whose future has been entrusted to me. For all the people that support Jones if he reinstates Paulk there will be a thousand fold that criticize him harshly if there is another accusation.

I am an attorney, so full disclosure. But I do think the fact that Paulk wasn't charged at all does have to play a role. Police don't take that kind of accusation lightly. I believe Taylpr was charged at least twice, regardless if the victim recanted the second time. For me, there's a difference.

He shredded South Carolina.

How did their defense become so atrocious last season? I know they lost Clowney, but damn. They looked like we did in 2012.

They switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4 (not kidding) because they had no pass rushers and were hoping the 3-4 could make up for that.

Spot on. It's time to move on from the alleged incident with Paulk. If Butch and the university are good with reinstatement, so am I. If not and LWS is correct, they must have good reasons to decline. However, some of the folks attacking Paulk have actually defended AJJ and wanted him to play out the season. Ridiculous.

The Darrin Kirkland section of that article gives me the good feels. It sounds like we will have the Mike LB spot in good hands. I am curious if he will be able to take over that spot by the end of the season. It would be crazy to have a true freshman starting there.

Right there with you. I always assumed it was just some hyperbole when they talk about him having a photographic memory. Sounds like it might be legit. That's uncommon.

Hope he doesn't go too far with the 'killing himself' in the weight room - he seems to have a fair amount of success at the literal meaning of that term - but I'm really optimistic about Kirkland.
