I love, LOVE, the personality of the players on this football team. Every one of them seem to inherit (or bring) this determined, grinder mentality. Just the way Evan Berry in the interview from yesterday said, "It's time to make plays." Marquez North gave me the same vibe. Just grind, grind, grind, then make plays.

Love it. GBO!

Whole team seems to be on the same page. I think the "we're Tennessee, we're supposed to lose games" mentality is gone. These guys are ready to win. It was huge for the class of 2014 to start off their careers with a winning season and a bowl win.

Probably helps to have all those legacy players that inherited that mentality and know what Tennessee is supposed to be like. I am so excited for this year and the next few.

Oh, and Jalen Hurd is a freakin' beast. Said he's at 235 lbs. right now. If he can keep the weight up and still run with speed and agility, this gon be gud!

Please let us steam roll Florida this year. If I was Butch, and the score was 45~0 in the fourth, I'd onside kick and go for 2 every time. That still wouldn't be satisfying enough.

He really is. I rewatched most of his carries from the 2014 season and the only reason he didn't clear 1,200+ yards is due to missing essentially two full games and defenses standing up our OL time after time. He still falls forward and gains 2-3 yards on carries that would go for nothing with other backs.

And when he actually hits daylight, he looks like he gets shot out of a cannon. I don't think he has elite top end speed, but he accelerates really fast for his size and will destroy some linebackers and DBs this season.

The Iowa game showed me a taste of what is to come this season.

2,500 yards rushing this year as a team. I don't care how we get it.

We had 1900 last year.

Edit: By comparison......Alabama had 2900 yds rushing and Georgia had 3300 yds rushing last year.

I think you have to consider several things. 1. The summer is a good time to bring him back for publicity reasons- no public practices or media sessions to be asked about it. 2. Scholarship numbers- they may need to wait until the summer. 3. The summer means he was punished a full academic year.

Stating all of this, I have no idea if he will be back or not. My assumption is that someone would be reporting interest in other schools if he was planning on leaving. JMO.
I don't disagree with anything you said. I just don't know that he is worth the risk. And I say that understanding the full weight of what we are speaking about which is a kid's future.

Jones is the guy that can answer that given that he knows the details of what did and didn't happen and that he probably understands what the kid has done to prove he is reformed. The support for Paulk is understandable and I hope the kid is successful in life but the criticism would be monumental if the kid is given a second chance and screws up. I'm sure Saban thought Jonathan Taylor was reformed as well. I'm glad as hell that I do not have to make that judgment with a kid whose future has been entrusted to me. For all the people that support Jones if he reinstates Paulk there will be a thousand fold that criticize him harshly if there is another accusation.

I think part of this I'd because a lot of the slackers have been cut ot have quit. We now are a more focused bunch.

Needed a break from writing my research paper so I decided to watch Hurd's tape from last year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h8-jq3odlg

Three things:

1. He is an absolute physical freak. And now that he's up to 235 he's just going to be that much more physical.

2. I am beyond excited to see what he can do with Kamara in the backfield and the O-line having another year under their belt. We've talked about having 'thunder and lightening' backs in the past but this year we really will have a two-headed monster in the backfield.

3. I'm really looking forward to Deboard's play calling. I had done such a good job of repressing some of the repeated and predictable play calling from last year until I kept seeing the exact same plays over and over again.

He shredded South Carolina.

How did their defense become so atrocious last season? I know they lost Clowney, but damn. They looked like we did in 2012.

Hurd and Kamara as I one two punch sounds good enough. Consider Dobb's wheels in this mix and I just can't help smiling contently.
