It was Andy Staples with SI. You're memory is fairly good, here's what he said:
If Butch Jones had a more perverse sense of humor, he would have called Jerry Jones (no relation) and asked the Dallas Cowboys’ owner to send his receivers coach to Tennessee’s pro day last week. That way, former Volunteers coach Derek Dooley would have been there to explain the dearth of NFL-level talent coming out of the program this year to his NFL colleagues. After all, the blame for that deficiency falls squarely on Dooley's shoulders. As it was, the staffers charged with cleaning up the mess Dooley made were left to apologize for how little they had to offer.
This was from a March 30th write-up. (sorry Andy)

Derek Dooley is a piece of sh**.

It's sorta obvious. A lot of first time watchers watched their last fight

And? Boxing promoters don't really care about first time watchers. Yes, they'd like them too but they knew that wasn't happening. Wether you care about it or not, boxing has a bunch of good fighters and fights set up for 2015.

Agree to disagree I guess

You're being really kind to him. I intended to give up my season tickets after the 2012 season (started getting them in 1972) because of that scumbag Dooley. After he was fired, my grandson that usually goes to the games with me, begged me to keep them one more year so I did. Glad I kept them now, we may be getting to see some of our best teams ever. I don't think I'll ever get over what that idiot did to us. He's a total douche.

Lol they don't care about first time watchers? Marketing 101 buddy. New customers are the goal. Other boxers thought it was bad. Smh

I cannot recall a single boxing pay per view event in the past 3 years. Perhaps this is the idea of boxing promoters. Lock the customers out and they'll crave it more.

Fail.

Boxing is dying and I used to be an enormous boxing fan. Hell, I used to watch it every Saturday on HBO and ordered HBO only for boxing.

I'm with you...but the fact that he was even hired in the first place gets me more ticked off than anything.

Mike. Hamilton.

Oye...I don't like that man.

Putting up big numbers in college does not always equate to being drafted highly.

You're not incorrect, but there are different dynamics to this. A starting SEC 4-3 DE who puts up big numbers on future NFL-caliber tackles and also has the versatility to play LB in the 3-4 is much more likely to be highly valued by NFL teams than a so-called "system" player like Tim Tebow or Nick Marshall whose production is essentially manufactured by the scheme. There's very little difference, if any, between our 4-3 LEO defense and the NFL equivalent.

This is by no means guaranteed, of course, like in Michael Sam's case. He was a great SEC player in college, but he lacks scheme versatility and doesn't have any elite measurables. Curt could get dinged due to his injury history and the fact that he's simply too heavy now to be very effective in pass coverage, but make no mistake about it, he has way more going for him skill-wise than Sam did.

OB, you're little girl is a fighter. She is going to make it through all this with flying colors. After seeing what my son went through after only being on this Earth for 2 days, it made me realize how much I take my life for granted. My son is my hero. He has already been through more in his first week of life than I have my entire life. Your little girl is a source of strength and inspiration.
