a) pre-Dobbs

b) pre-ole miss meltdown, which is when Arkansas caught them

c) it was actually 34-3. Haha. Though it really shoulda been 27-3 because of that ridiculous last min run up the score TD

27-10 if Worley puts any air on the interception in the first

And we played
A. Kentucky meltdown
B. Candy need I say more
C. And beat Iowa nothing to jump up about
Point to all of this is Arkansas hype is no different than ours and I can't wait to beat the Hell out of them this fall.

You picked out a single game to suggest that OleMiss wasn't very good...I picked out another single game to show they were.

Two different times in the season.

Also a 42-3 loss is more bad than a close luck-filled win over bama.

And also more indicative IMO of the ole miss team that Arkansas played than we got.

Ole miss was in somewhat of a spiral down already. And in the arky game, they had six turnovers.

Perhaps those turnovers didn't happen in a vacuum and Arky had something to do with them. Also, the spiral wasn't too deep imo since OleMiss beat rival and top 10 Mississippi State pretty handily the next week.

SAIP

Just rewatched the O&W game. Here's the list of the fastest guys on the team in the Tennespeed drill (I don't know the order that Butch read it off):

* Foreman
* Dobbs
* Howard
* Kamara
* Sutton
* Smith
* Reeves-Maybin ("I don't know why Reeves-Maybin is in there" lol)
* Malone
* Randolph

Foreman was the winner.

I never would have guessed that Foreman is the fastest guy on the team before spring practice this year. Thought it would have been Moseley or Evan Berry.

I think ours is a little more founded based on what we have coming back. I do concede that their wins were more impressive than ours for the most part.

But we have more coming back.

1) that's an intense rival game. Different circumstance
2) state was prob in somewhat of a spiral, having just lost their first game of the season coming into the egg bowl

3) ok, fine, arky is great and we might as well chalk up a loss. Wooooo pig sooie

Anyone that thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

I see the game playing out two ways: Arkansas gashes us on the ground and gets 6-7 yards per carry, opening up play action for Allen. Their drives take up 7-8 mins each and end in 7. We have an off day offensively, get in a small hole, and they coast to a win, 21-14 or 17-14. Mizzou 2014, basically.

On the other hand, I can see Dobbs shredding them right off the bat and us jumping out to a 14-0 lead. Because their offense is designed to control tempo and time of possession, they'll have get desperate fast. Perfect time for Barnett and Maggitt to force Allen to make bad throws right at Cam and our secondary.

With all due respect, I don't put much stock in bowl game outcomes. They tend not to translate too well to what happens the following season.

Also, I watched that game and don't recall too much luck determining the outcome. OleMiss pretty much dominated the 4th quarter and made plays to win it.

Anywho, it's all in the eye of the beholder at the end of the day. I think Arkansas will be very good this year, you don't....I think OleMiss' win over Alabama last year was legit, you don't. No worries. Bottom line, we'll both be pulling like hell for Tennessee to beat the hell out of Arky this year...I just think it'll be more difficult than you do. Again, no worries. Go Vols.

Y'all must have forgot our luck. Since we are playing arky as our west opponent, they are going to have their best year in a decade..

Haha. We are arguing about ole miss. And we don't even play them this year. Ahhhhh, the offseason. Ha.

I don't think Arkansas will be bad. I think they could be pretty good. But I think their hype is a little too much. They will probably win around 8 games. Might would have more if they were in the east.

Anyways, much love to ya KBVol and GBO!

Also could depend heavily on the state of our teams/seasons coming into the game.

This. And their run go is as good or better than Bama imo. That's all they got though, unless these 3*s they've been recruiting on defense somehow over achieve, then maybe top 15 would be possible for them.

Whatever happened to Dalton Santos? He still at Texas as well?

That kid was like Dillon Bates before Dillon Bates. He was a VN favorite until he spurned us at the last minute.

Remember when we used to get burned by kids like that all the time?

He wasn't even a top 250 player and Dools still couldn't hang onto him.

This wasn't a Dooley thing. Saban, Urban, Miles, Butch right now wouldn't have kept him. He wanted Texas but they didn't want him. Then when they did he was gone.

It's like having a crush on a solid 9 (in your eyes) your entire life but realizing she won't give you a shot, so you go and get a really great girl anyway, but it's still not her. Then the second that 9 breaks up with her boyfriend or gets shot down herself she calls you drunk and to come over, so you absolutely go for it and don't think twice.

Why is it a different circumstance? They beat a good Miss St that came into the game ranked #4 in the country. The fact that it was vs their most hated rival makes the OleMiss win even more impressive I would think.
As far as the Arky game this year, I don't believe for one second it's an automatic loss. I just think that Arkansas will be a very good team this year and I think they'll be a much tougher out than you and others think they'll be. That's all.

Couple VQ War Room notes

-There are 2 key elements for Von Pearson. Grades and whether there are pressed charges. Von is still enrolled for the Summer and Fall semesters. There is optimism that Von will finish strong in the classroom. And if charges are not pressed against Von, there's also optimism there that he could re-join the team.

I certainly prefer my charges crisp and well-starched.

And returning through the same door is an experienced and improving QB, 2 1100 yd running backs, possibly the best OL in the country and one of the top tight ends in the SEC.

Our DL will be very good. That's primarily what you need to beat Arkansas.

Will find out the answer to Arky game this fall. But for all the pointing of how great they were last season - they did finish 7-6 and 2-6 SEC with losses to Auburn, aTm, Bama, UGA, MSU, and Mizzou. They had a nice bowl win against a poor Texas team, just like we did against Iowa. Bowl wins/losses count and have importance whether you want to believe it or not. That's why coaches like to play in them, not just because they want to look good to the fan base. Extra practices, a game, and if not momentum going into the next season, a better understanding of the issues to work on and type players to recruit before the next season begins.

The game will be played in Knoxville. We have the most returning starters of any team in the SEC with another top 5 recruiting class that should give us a half dozen contributing players. We should be in better shape with more quality WRs available, a healthy Hurd to go with Kamara, RT issue solved, and most importantly Dobbs starting Day One instead of mid-season. Meanwhile, Arky lost their playmakers on D, but bring back a strong running game with marginal passing game.

Barring an injury plague on either team it adds up this way for me for Arky: one dimensional - on the road - untested D. No more Chaney to improvise with lesser parts. We simply play more base 4-3 on D and plug the running lanes with quality depth at all positions. I don't see them stopping Dobbs and crew at all. As Volssam says, "Wooooo pig sooie." Fire up the grill and pour me some more orange kool aid.

Agreed. We better be stout in our front 7 or Arky will control game tempo...unless we're able to jump out front early on maybe.

The defense will be great, IMO. I think they're going to have a hard time stopping Dobbs, Hurd, and AK.
