Can you imagine Bray trying to run the read option? Would have looked hilarious.

It's a moot point considering Bray would have been ineligible in 2013, but I do wonder how Butch would have handled that season had Bray stuck around. Would he have waited a year to fully install the offense? There's just no way you can run any semblance of our offense with a QB as immobile as Bray.

We act as if Worley is the most mobile guy in the world. I'd take Bray in that offense over Worley every time. His accuracy and pocket awareness far outweigh Worley's "extra" mobility.

But I also don't think Bray misses time under Butch. Butch seems to be a guy who, mostly, fights for his players. I guarantee Butch doesn't give up a first round talent QB, and the other schools not being punished, without making it Hell.

Just good enough that he broke a few school records, and if he stayed another year probably breaks all the UT QB records and we hit a bowl game.

Why we hate on Bray so much ill never understand. He gets the previous years defense, we win 9 or 10 games, with Dooley, and he goes first round.
No. He embarrassed himself on the Gruden QB series. He knew nothing and basically just got by with his arm. Plus he was a quitter.

This was also as much an epic collapse of an overrated USCe team as well. Don't get me wrong. We took it from them. But they dangled the bait in our grasp far too long or we lose And ask questions about Butch.

How about Bray driving us to win against Clowney and Tiny giving up the sack after Bray threw a rope to get us in field goal range. That's Bray not clutch, right?

Bray had so many other opportunities to be clutch and didn't get it done, though. UNC 2010. UGA 2011 (got hurt, but wasn't playing well before that point), got bailed out by Da'Rick vs Vandy 2011, UK 2011, UF 2012, UGA 2012, MSU 2012.

I guess you could say the USC game was semi-clutch, but we'll never know. My hunch is that we end up kicking a FG and losing in OT even if the strip sack doesn't happen.

And yes, the defense was awful in 2012, but look at what Aaron Murray did in 2013 against us. Back against the wall, defense kept giving up TDs and letting us back in the game, and he marched his team right down the field to tie it up with no time left. Bray just didn't have that in him.

I like you butchna. You say what's on your mind whether there is any truth to it or not. I suppose the 15000 petition signatures already sent to DiPietro are from individuals associated with the program.

If Wal Mart sold bags of glass shards for facial cream you could find 15000 people who would swear it was the best thing and shouldn't be removed from shelves.

Some people hate any change. Others hate anything static.

One way to test how much sense this makes is to try it in reverse. Imagine that UT had never used "Lady Vols" and suddenly made women's teams wear that title. I imagine then you'd see a real out cry about sexism and backwards thinking.

Personally I've always disliked adding "Lady" to any mascot title. Why not call the football team "Gentlemen Vols" too?

Did well against the easier teams; folded in the tough ones.

Any guy that ever quits on his team is getting no praise from me.

And he didn't get that defense, he didn't win that many games, and he didn't go first round.

It baffles me how stupid this post is.

In what games did he quit in?

What games did he fold in?

Are you gonna say Florida? I hope you say florida.

Matt Simms has had more playing time in the NFL then Tyler Bray has. Both were in similar QB situations. That should sum it up right there. Bray did good stuff here, but was also a product of Chaney and all-world receivers.

Matt Simms.

Matt Simms.

You are a brilliant person.

Those all world receivers are tearing up the NFL.

I did look at the stats, and they told me that 2,000 of Bray's 3,400 passing yards and 21 of his 34 TDs in 2012 came against opponents with losing records and a combined record of 14-45, but nearly all of his INTs came against teams with winning records in the SEC--virtually all of which were extremely costly.

He feasted on bad teams his freshman season, had one good performance as a sophomore (Cincy), feasted on more bad teams that year before losing to one in dismal fashion (UK), and finished off his career by feasting on even more VERY bad teams, including two that finished 1-11.

For all his skill, he only delivered one truly great performance and that was against South Carolina...and we still lost.

Please compare Mannings's junior stats. Was it 4 or 5 Ints vs Florida?

Bray took on the persona of his head coach and doesn't have enough above the shoulders to be a professional QB. He had all the talent in the world, but it goes to show that you also need work ethic and mental toughness.

Sure, if he had any semblance of a defense, he wins more games. But that also means we keep our coach for another year or two, and hindsight tells us that would have been awful.

Maybe if Butch Jones had coached Bray he turns out differently. You learn a lot based on your coaching.

Look at the game logs for manning.

Man he tore up those crappy teams too. Are you gonna hold that against him?

What a terrible argument. Bray won zero meaningful games at Tennessee...including several where the game was on the line and the ball was in his hands--not on the shoulders of the defense.

Are you seriously trying to compare the two?

Manning had a one loss season and an SECC in another. Bray might even have the better physical skills, but preparation, work ethic, and understanding of the game are not even close.

Hit from behind going in to score vs sc. On + side of the field against Georgia and guess what hit again from the side/back.

If that would of been manning this board would of publicly assassinated tiny.

Please tell me again how many games did manning win with the ball in his hand?
