Bray was fun to watch against bad/average defenses, but he was also one of the least clutch QBs ever. I think he got worse the longer he stayed at Tennessee. When he was slinging it around as a freshman he was pretty good and played loose. By the time he was a junior, he shut down during tight games. I had zero faith in him to win games for us.

The Florida game his Junior year was the first time I've ever seen a QB in orange in white quit...and he did.

I was sitting right behind the offensive bench. He never once tried to rally his guys on the sideline, never went to Chaney to talk about the last play...he moped off the field, sat down, hung his head...and sulked.

The Kentucky game will always take the cake for me. The worst played, worst coached, and just worst everything game in my life as a UT fan.

I would be pretty out of it too if I knew that even if I took us down the field to score the defense would just allow another TD almost immediately.

That, and the last Vandy game DD "coached". Supposedly, we were attempting to win both but the Vandy game is, by far, the least amount of effort I've ever seen an entire team and coaching staff give during a game.

And by effort, I'm referring only to the fact that some players actually looked like they cared enough to appear as if they cared whether we won or lost that game and the fact that the coaches actually showed up in UT apparel.

True. But compare that to Dobbs' leadership during the 4th quarter of the South Carolina game (paraphrasing): "It doesn't matter how many points they score. We're going to outscore them and win the game."

I don't doubt that one iota. If you believe half of the stories that are out there about him--like how much more meticulous he was with the placement of trash cans on the practice field than he was with film study of opposing teams--you come to realize how much of an entitled, arrogant, piece of human excrement he is, who had no business ever walking the sidelines as an assistant, much less a head coach.

You think a lot higher of him than I do. I would get banned from VN if I told how I really feel about him.

Couldn't agree more. Was the worst display of football and coaching I've seen in my 44 years. Embarrassed to be a vol that day!

I'm ready for this month to be over. June is when I officially start getting into football season mode...although it's still fairly devoid of news and activity. At least the summer arrivals will be here soon.

The Bama loss in '05, the inexplicable refusal to give A. Foster the rock vs. UGA in '08 and the resulting loss, the Wyoming loss, the back to back losses to bad UCLA teams which of course meant we were worse, any game vs. Meyer at UF, any game vs. Saban at Bama, all were low points for me as a Vol fan but the UK game in Dooley's 2nd yeat was the lowest of them all.

hubbs told 3HL that he thinks von will be back and wont be charged. Hes got to have some pretty good info before he gets on the radio and says something like that. I feel better.

:hi: exactly. Man I just really really hope Butch proves this year hes not just a good recruiter and spokesman for the program. We NEED to win 8+ games to keep the hype train rolling.

New traditions happen.

I can just hear all the blue haired/down in front guys in 1965 when the band formed a T for the first time.

"Dickey has lost his mind. First the Power T on the helmets, now this crap".

Go Vols (Lady/Dudes/Whatever)

BS. I attended the home games in '65 & there was nothing but excitement over the team, led by Dewey "Swamp Rat" Warren when Fulton went down, Johnny Mills, Paul Naumoff, & others. The biiggest excitement, though, was over a freshman track star/WR out of Alabama, Richmond Flowers, son of the Atty. General of Alabama. (Of course, he was viewed as a traitor to Bama fans.) He was ineligible as a freshman in '65, but brought a lot of excitement to UT football in '66.

I used to go to Tennessee's home track meets just to watch him compete in the 110 high hurdles. (He won the NCAA high hurdles event in 1968.)

Sorry for the long response, but it brought back a lot of fond memories of my freshman year in Knoxville. BTW, I really don't care what our team is called as long as they wear orange and beat the crap out of Alabama every year! :hi:

Ya Kmac and Martin have me more excited for summer workouts than I have been in a long time.

Exactly - I saw some of those games and agree on Flowers. He was in a totally different gear than the rest of the players. Warren was my favorite Vol QB for many years. The excitement was high for young and old.

Word of caution on the "blue" hairs. Some of you will be happy to have any hair, much more so blue, when/if you reach the age.

Just loaded up NCAA 14 for the first time in about 18 months and downloaded the updated rosters. For all it's faults, it's still a blast to play from time to time.

Played BGSU at LP Field and won a close one, 28-21. Dobbs was 15/16 for 215 yards, including a 73-yard TD pass to Malone. The OL struggled opening up running lanes, though, and Hurd barely broke 100 yards.

Then played South Carolina @ Neyland and lost 16-17. I hit the upright on a 47-yard FG with no time left on the clock. Felt like watching a Dooley game.

It's funny to see how real life carries over to the game, though. Barnett had 3 sacks against South Carolina and Sutton had a pick on a lob pass down the sideline.

The only thing I don't like about the game is that quick slants makes it too easy at times (I ban myself from using it--you can seriously run it over and over) and terrible/glitched blocking from OL. So many plays I'll have one guy to beat for a 40-yard TD, and my OL releases his block right as my RB gets close to the DB. Lame. Oh yeah--and sometimes defenders are uncontrollable, even when the ball carrier is two feet away and running right toward you.

I'd give anything if 2K could somehow snatch up the rights to the NCAA franchise if they can ever get past the lawsuit stuff. Playing this game on PS4 or even PC would be phenomenal.

Haha.

Wasn't being literal.

That's awesome. I would take a small paycut for another college football game to come out.

Reeeeaaaalllly don't like posting this but....hello again from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

Ashlee's "ok" but having some moderate to severe withdrawals from the pain medication...if you ask me, they weened her a little too aggressively. My wife and I haven't gotten much sleep since we got home but, hey, no big deal, that's life with a month old child.

They're keeping her here for 24-48 hours for observation, pending everything else is medically ok.

How quickly did they ween her off of it?
