I also was a frequent visitor to Japan, mostly Yokosuka and Sasebo. Made the trip and climbed that awesome mountain almost 20 years ago.

They used to give you a walking stick if you actually climbed it, not sure if they still do.

I heard they still do. I still have mine, and I paid for the brands on it all the way up. We got to the top before sunrise and got the sunrise stamp. You get a different one if you are after sunrise.

Nice. I didn't realize there was such a big contingent of guys who've lived in Japan on VN

Spent four great years in Japan while in the Marine Corps. Well, my family spent four great years there. I was gone a lot, but the times I was home were great. I was in Iwakuni, which is about 45 mins from Hiroshima, but we used to take trips to Tokyo quite often. Great times.

The Japanese hated our squadron logo. .. wonder why

WARNING: Cool story bro ahead.

snip

Anyway, a guy he had been talking to was wearing an Ole Miss hat and he said he was surprised to hear Paul was a UT Grad. Paul said something like "I don't claim it too often." I jokingly (kinda) told him to be proud of his UT degree and that he would be wishing he had claimed it more often soon. He said he hoped so and he loves what Butch was doing.

If we needed any proof that Paul's still a Vol fan then that's it. We are fickle and prone to extreme bouts of negativity. PAWWL's just a negavol.

Besides, living in Bama during an awful downturn for the Vols and making your living talking Alabama and Auburn football had to have an effect. He'd have gotten hell and charges of extreme bias (maybe run out of the state) had he made it too public. He's only now been able to claim us without much worry since the SECNetwork launched.

Also, any guy whose favorite troll targets are Bammers is ok by me. They're still his favorite target with Auburn running 2nd. :birgits_giggle:

What about Adidas? They're not involved?

Adidas owns the world market and it's not close and is one of the gold standards in soccer cleats.

Adidas has been smarter than Nike when it comes to outsourcing. While they do outsource ~25 percent is outsourced to the US. Nike knows Americans just don't care about this stuff.

Since they are a German Co rather than a US one, their labor practices are very likely better than Nike's, especially wage wise. That's not to say their Asian market laborers are living the high life but just that they are *likely* doing better than Nike counterparts. The distinction between the US and Germany matters because of Germany's wage, labor, and union history.

Good info. I love Adidas for soccer stuff, Nike burned me so many times.

Just saw that the Gators' starting MLB Antonio Morrison will likely miss the beginning of their season due to a knee injury he suffered during their bowl game.

Of course, all that means is that he will miraculously heal just in time for the Tennessee game and have an emotionally charged performance complete with 30 tackles, 5 TFLs, 4 sacks, and 1 INT.

Happy to share info. I'm still a bit pissed at Nike because the last shoes I bought (paid a fortune too) fell apart. They were barely used. I just wish Adidas had better fan gear for College Teams.

Watching Finebaum, guy from Bleacher Report was discussing Spurrier.

He essentially said it's over because of the teams they play.

"Tennessee is building a monster"

FrankenVols

They thought we were dead and buried

Then Rocky Top was struck by a lightning bolt named Butch Jones...life has returned to the Volunteers monster

Throughout the South from florida to texas and as far North as missouri, fear is spreading as confused rumors of its alive, its coming flow through college campuses, that by this Fall will turn into a torrential rush of dread that will sweep entire Athletic Departments before it.

SEC, do you feel the ground tremble?
SEC, do you hear the thunder?
SEC, you can run (but not fast enough)
SEC, you can hide (but not well enough)

The Big Orange Monster can smell your fear!
This Fall the Volunteer Monster will feast on your football souls and you will be powerless to stop it.

Some will try to withstand the onslaught, some will wilt before the Orange storm...the results will be the same as victorious Volunteers war dance to Rocky Top throughout the SEC

:)
