What has Georgia proven other than they can lose to 1-3 teams each year they should beat?

Never said UGA was going to win the East. I was pointing out that he was not wrong that UT needs to prove it on the field. Like you, I want to say that UGA will go 9-3 and we will win the East. But, UT still needs to prove on the field they are coming back. Going 5-7 twice and then going 7-6 with a bowl win over a lackluster Iowa team is not the purest definition of "We are back!" and run rampant all over the SEC.

My post was about Barnhart being a Georgia homer. He picks them every year.

I agree we need to prove something this year.

I'm beyond ready for Richt to retire and UGA to hire a dud of a coach. They've had it too good for the past 14 years, even if Richt hasn't delivered a national championship.

We have confirmation that the uniforms will have orange and white on them.

Lulz...

I think this is a number with no border or trim. Also, I wouldn't judge the color by this photo... It looks like they used a twitter filter when they uploaded it to make it look old or LoFi or something.

He's benefited from Tennessee being at a historical low and Florida being up and down during his tenure.

Even with that, believe they have only been to Atlanta 3 times.

The right coach at Georgia would be a disaster for the SEC. HOPE HE STAYS

It's also a picture of a picture of a uniform that was posted online. Making any kind of judgement about the color would be premature at best.

Meh. Saying I hope he stays is like saying I hope Will Muschamp stays. We never beat Muschamp and we haven't beat Richt since 2009. If we kick his ass this year, sure, but the odds of UGA hiring a better coach than Richt aren't great. Almost all major programs hire one or two duds when replacing a coach with a high winning percentage.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but Georgia would be a very attractive job. They have tons of talent so no rebuild.

Nice. I didn't realize there was such a big contingent of guys who've lived in Japan on VN

I also was a frequent visitor to Japan, mostly Yokosuka and Sasebo. Made the trip and climbed that awesome mountain almost 20 years ago.

They used to give you a walking stick if you actually climbed it, not sure if they still do.

No doubt he is a homer. I think 1 of 3 scenarios happens this year:

1) UGA wins the east and sweeps everyone from the East schedule

2) We beat UGA and sweep the East winning it in the process

3) UGA beats us, but fails to win the East due to losing more games than us giving us the East title

That OU game is going to tell us a lot about how much this team wants to win.

My ship was in Yokosuka. Did you ever go to Bar Tennessee across the street from the gate?

It was a dive but I stayed there for obvious reasons.

Not saying it isn't an attractive job. It's one of the top in CFB. But if you look at most major programs, very few replace HoF-level coaches with coaches who are equal or better. It usually takes one or two duds before they get back on track.

WARNING: Cool story bro ahead.

I met and talked to Paul Finebaum at the Wells Fargo PGA Tournament a couple weekends ago. (Also saw Rory shoot 61 breaking the course record, which actually is a cool story.) My buddies and I were standing by number 17 (par 3 completely over water) green and I heard a familiar voice directly behind me. Turned around, sure enough: Finebaum. I'd had a few so I was like "hey Paul!"

He looked at me like "please don't bring attention to me." I didn't, other than a couple of my buddies who saw me talking to him. He actually was a very nice guy. Of course we talked football, UT, etc. Another guy asked who he thought would win the SEC and he said "well, I picked Bama on my show, so don't tell anyone (oops, I just did), but I think Auburn will win it.

Anyway, a guy he had been talking to was wearing an Ole Miss hat and he said he was surprised to hear Paul was a UT Grad. Paul said something like "I don't claim it too often." I jokingly (kinda) told him to be proud of his UT degree and that he would be wishing he had claimed it more often soon. He said he hoped so and he loves what Butch was doing.

Anyways, I just sobered up and remembered that. Haha.

A little off topic, but it sounds like Nike might get caught up in the Fifa corruption scandal. An unnamed US sport wear company is named as paying bribes. The English papers are assuming it is Nike.
