*sigh*
There are tons more 2 and 3 stars given out to recruits, so naturally there will be some that are over looked and perform better. There are a small number of 4 and 5 star players in comparison.
So me and the family are at Panama Beach. I'm wearing a UT football shirt getting on the elevator an a guy says (wearing a bama hat) so your a Tennessee fan? Yes, how did you know? He said read your shirt without missing a beat I said " Your the first bama fan I've ever met who could read" my wife like to have died and the rest of the elevator busted out laughing. Who says you can't have fun with bama fans.

There's a thread on reddit's NFL board about how an average Joe would be able to affect a game as a legal 12th man on either offense or defense.
Strong delusion in there. People talking about how they'd be able to catch 15-20 yard passes uncovered, or that they'd be an extra pass rusher bull rushing the QB to flush him out of the pocket, strip the ball, or even sack him.
It's crazy how people still believe that the things they're watching on Sundays are things that mere mortals can achieve. 99% of people wouldn't be able to catch more than 1 out of 10 passes from an NFL QB wide open while wearing pads and a helmet. 99% of people wouldn't be able to get close to a QB even as an unblocked pass rusher, and even if they did close the distance, they would probably bounce right off him or get juked out of their shoes by someone as "immobile" as Big Ben.
Hell, I'd wager that an average Joe wouldn't even be able to meaningfully contribute to an NAIA/D3 game without getting seriously injured in the process.

It probably depends on the individual, but it doesn't seem impossible to believe that a 24 year-old male in good physical shape with previous HS football experience and some time to study the playbook couldn't be at the very least a possession receiver at the D2 or D3 level. Now give that guy 5 or 10 years and he's toast.
