I've got more problem with the idiot vol fan than I do Perine's response. He was actually more tame than I would have been. Fans like that piss me off.

I've got more of an issue with a player (UT or not) responding to idiots on Twitter. DB doesn't really need any extra motivation, but Perine just gave him some.

I thought the same thing...wouldn't matter much if it wasn't DB imo.

In the past it wouldn't. Our defense will be mad this game. This will be a REVENGE beatdown! Revenge Tour about to get started soon boys!!!! Not a game on the schedule I don't think we can win this year. Dobbs will be the best QB in the league too. The rest of the league outside of Auburn and Miss State(who aren't on schedule) have a mess at QB. :)

thats what i was thinking. Man, we have some embarrassing fans. Why even start talking trash to an OU player on twitter for no reason? Thats so lame.

I agree...our D is gonna be all kinds of pissed this year. Can't wait to smack OU in the mouth and then get started on the SEC!!!

Butch is on 3HL right now, calling in from Saugatuck where he's on vacation.

Blaine Bishop: "Butch, is there ever a time when you just relax and don't think about the program?"

Butch: "No."

Hahaha just listened. He really says this. I'd say it's even more of a "...no", like it was silly for them to even ask such a thing.

Butch Jones:

Tried to quote what you quoted, I am more than impressed by that smokey gray helmet. As someone who grew up with the smokies in my backyard, it does my heart good to see a multinational company actually take the time to put their finger on what makes East Tennessee so great.

Yeah, it was hilarious. Granted, Butch wouldn't admit to taking "time off" from the program in public like that, but I think he was 100% telling the truth. He's probably working the phones like crazy even on vacation to stay ahead in recruiting.

Also, of little national note, I'm heading down to Knoxville tomorrow to spend time with my folks for my mom's 75th bday. Woot!

Probably so. And he mentioned that the time he did "take off" was spent in Miami with Spoelstra or reading Energy Bus-type personal development materials, which he then turns around and incorporates into the football program. So even when he's not working, he's really still working.

Damn. His life is literally devoted to Tennessee football.

I am concerned about burnout..don't want another Fulmer situation. I would like to have the success PF had again, but not the drastic fall afterward because of entitled laziness. I know Butch is a different animal, but to sustain this level of devotion to the job is not doable longterm imo...

Alvin Kamara continues to not only wow with his speed but his strength --- especially lower-body strength. We're told Kamara recently closed out the first half of summer's program with so many squats of 525 to 545 pounds that he just sort of casually looked at strength coach Dave Lawson as if to say, '"How many you want me to do? I can keep going." according to some eye-witnesses. Fellow backfield running mate Jalen Hurd has gotten faster and stronger while also adding lean muscle --- he's weighing approximately 242 pounds.

I dunno. I think some people are just wired that way. Butch seems to be one.

Look at Saban. He's been going pedal to the metal since at least 1995 when he took over Michigan State and he's 63 now.

Urban Meyer is another guy who is utterly consumed with winning and shows no signs of slowing down. Butch strikes me as someone who has the same drive and dedication as those two.
