It's amazing how quickly Butch Jones has become the face of Tennessee football. How many other coaches are on that level in terms of name recognition with their program? The only guys who have achieved it are those who have have either coached a very long time or have had a lot of success or both.

It's incredible. And we couldn't ask for a better representative.

sneaky class to watch: Everyone already know’s about alabama's and lsu’s strong classes, but tennessee is a team that could sneak up and have a very solid class this year. With 12 commits, including four ranked in the espn 300, tennessee is already off to a good start. Guarantano had an outstanding week at the elite 11, and with his strong performance, he made the final elite 11 final rankings. Defensive back marquill osborne also had a solid week. With big-time playmakers such as freddie swain (all-tournament), binjimen victor and hardman all considering the volunteers, tennessee could end up with an incredible class. In addition to the offensive weapons, defensive prospects such as derrick brown and nigel knott are also mentioning tennessee as a possible destination.

Hate to keep the off topic stuff going...but fall practice doesn't start for a couple of weeks and....

Have you tested this shaft on a launch monitor against other shafts? Or are you just trying to replace an existing shaft?

A good club fitter would try to fit you with many different shafts on a launch monitor to find the best one for your swing. Might be a good option before you shell out a lot of money. You might be surprised there are some great shafts for a lot less money than the big names.

Have not tested it on a launch monitor. I hit it off the tee today. Right now I have a TM burner Superfast with the stock stiff shaft.

Like the club but have been fairly inconsistent off the tee. Good drives are great (I hit about 280-300) but if I'm off at all, it's wayyyyy left or waaayyyy right. I got really high ball flight as well.

Hit aldila shaft today after my playing partner said my swing speed was too fast for my current shaft. Felt like nothing I've ever hit before. Still plenty of trajectory, but not too much. FLEW it 320... Never had that result before.

I want to hit a few on a monitor. Had no idea a shaft made that kind of difference.

I'm pumped about recruiting. On topic yay. Go warrior, hardeman.

If the 2016 class finishes out as strong as I think it will, the rebuilding process will pretty much be 95% done and the roster will be back to 2001 levels.

10 win seasons from there on out.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a very specific high end golf shaft. Anybody know a good place or person that can save me a lot of money? The shaft I'm looking at new is about $300. Hoping to get $150 (which is out there on ebay, but the only ones I've seen are already fit for a specific brand of driver).

Let me know if you can help. Thanks!

*end non recruiting post* :hi:

Ha! I agree we will be very good but I don't think our history suggests we should expect an unending string of 10 wins seasons. If that's what folks expect, then they are in for a disappointment.

Regular top 25 appearances and finishes, 9-10 wins regularly, with occasional 11+ win seasons but also a few 8-5s. Bowl games every year without exception. In SEC East contention most years, with a visit to the game itself every 3-4 years (sometimes more). Legitimate national title contender a few times a decade. That's kind of what I expect for Tennessee when it is stable. I think that's consistent with our history. in short, relevance.

Agreed, but if Butch starts making top 5 classes a regular occurrence on the Hill, we may see success that's on par with or even better than the 90s. We would basically be equal with Bama and Ohio State, talent wise.

This is an excellent and realistic point of view. This is what we are historically. There have been times however when we were coached by individuals that were not only exceptional recruiters but also had a desire and work ethic to win at a championship level. I'm of course speaking of General Neyland and a 7 year stint with Coach Fulmer.

It absolutely feels that Coach Jones has all of these characteristics and another brilliant streak is around the bend. I'm thinking he is of that caliber and his eventual replacement will bring the trend you describe above.

In any case, we as fans have been underground for to long and it's time to resurface in a BIG way! GBO!

There are plenty of schools that have talent aside from Ohio State and Alabama. LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss, USCw, Clemson, Florida State and UCLA have also recruited at a top 10 level. Oklahoma, Florida (minus last year), Texas and Oregon are also top 15 recruiting schools. How sweet it is already to be considered in that grouping.

The difference in many cases becomes keeping the talent in school and excellent coaching. Let's hope we accomplish this because recruits already see us as a top 5 brand.

Luckily for us, the back to back top 5 classes seem to be solid and qualifiers. Now we simply fill holes this year and shoot for a top 2 class in 2017!

Sorry for being a posting machine but could someone explain to me why so many of the campers today were photographed in Adidas gear.

"Now, it isn't surprising that Tennessee's athletes still are in adidas gear. The Nike deal formally initiated July 1, of course, but new gear annually isn't distributed until August. It was that way even under the old adidas deal and is commonplace in college athletics. The gear for the 2015-16 year for all student-athletes will be mass distributed by August 1."

At least the players will have the new equipment prior to fall camp. Might not make a difference for most players, but maybe cleats for RBs and WR making cuts.

Nice to meet you Dustin

For awhile there TN wasn't getting blue chip players hardly at all. Now we are getting a class full of them annually. For most of these players, if they weren't coming to TN, they would have gone to some other top program. Which programs are suffering as a result of our resurgence on the recruiting trail? I mean. There isn't an unlimited number of great players. And we're getting lots of them. Who is getting left out?
